Sick?

Just watched the presser and it’s honestly so embarrassing at times. Brands eluded several times to sickness going around but still has something in his brain that prevents him from saying it.

If they are sick then why is Iowa the only team that is perpetually sick? Are they sitting in their standalone facility just making out with each other?

He was asked about Ferrari and he did say they were “day to day” and they have a “great medical team.”

They wrestled like they were tired of the sport. Definitely not good vibes and it seems we got a lot of guys not enjoying the sport at this moment, How well does your work go when you're not liking it? It is definitely time for a change at the top. As good as a coach as Terry may be and more so with freestyle, we haven't been great since they have been on staff together. It's time for freshness within the program because far too many of the team performances are embarrassing. Man this was a tough tough night!!!!

That's getting old. How many different bugs can go through the room in a season?
I mean I’m not saying it’s true in the room or making excuses but I am currently sick for the 2nd time in a month and I’m not cutting weight or being in close proximity to a bunch of other people every single day. This winter has been the worst in the last 5-6 years weather wise so it’s not an unlikely circumstance.

I thought we used that excuse a couple weeks ago.
Tom isn't gonna make excuses. It was obvious watching that guys were sick. Dean hasn't wrestled in awhile and he's not hurt 🤷. They sure looked good last week do people think some forgot how to compete over the course of a week?

Why has no one done media training with him in the last 20 years?

Good grief this is where we are now? We lost to a dog crap gopher team at home for the first time since the Obama administration bc we're sick? Really? Amazing how psu is never sick enough to have performances like this.
To be fair, it is entirely possible even if it feels like another frustrating excuse. TnT are and should remain on the hot seat, but denying the possibility just because of frustration isn't justified.

Well if they're sick then forfeit the F'ing match! That's a hell of a lot better option than watching whatever it is they're doing out there, it sure as hell isn't wrestling.

Most of these guys have been sick all year apparently. And every time they trot out there with their mediocre wrestling, their mediocre ranking and mediocre seed drop like a F'ing anchor.

Once again, 6 guys in the lineup failed to get one F'ing takedown, and multiple got MAJORED, at Home, to a **** Gophers team. How in the hell does this keep repeating itself? Pathetic.

I'll admit I often cringe at their interviews, but I actually didn't think this one was all that bad. Doesn't mean I agree with all his responses, but far from cringeworthy IMO.

Who specifically was sick? Maybe Williams? In the matches we lost, we had zero takedowns. Ironside said after the meet we aren’t chain wrestling. He said we make one pull on the head and stop. We aren’t setting things up, to create our angles and shots. Those things are as important as finishing takedowns and we aren’t doing it. He said Tom and Terry spend an insane amount of time with each guy on nutrition, rest, training and mindset. However, none of that matters, if you aren’t getting results on the mat!! He said, where you show improvement is on the mat in competition.
In talking with Brands, he said “we had two guys quit wrestling tonight, we can’t have that.” Then he said, “steady as she goes, we have guys in the room who can get the job done.

I’d like to see them.

I’ve been going to meets for decades and tonight after Gabe lost, I went to the top and watched 197. After that match I left, which I have never done. It was just too much to take. Maybe one or two guys were sick.

I didn’t even go tonight. Definitely cutting my season tickets back next year. It’s got to the point for me where I’d rather do something else then spend the 5 hours towards that product. What was the attendance like?

Attendance was surprisingly strong after the last home meet. I would say 70% full (or 83% if I’m being handcuffed to this board’s percentage rules). Plenty of exits after 197, way under on the “woos” during heavyweight which was also surprisingly nice. Guess it’s not that much fun to woo when your team just laid an egg.

Yeah, I was just going to say I've been batting an ear infection and some other bug for 15 straight days now, despite being on two different antibiotics. It's been brutal and I'm absolutely miserable.

Brands needs to stop blaming the wrestlers and blame the guy who is supposed to train them to perform

TB knows things are not good and he's throwing out excuses to cover up his problems. Not recruiting good enough, inadequate coaching staff. At a minimum he needs to get two new coaches to replace M* and Telford. Beth may need to do a Brian Ferentz move on TB if she doesn't can him.
Does she attend wrestling matches?

Yes she does. I'm sure she was quite impressed with our performance.

Assuming Beth has no experience in revamping a wrestling program, I assume she's going to need guidance/mentoring from someone to help her do it. Any ideas who will help her on this?

This latest cold/flu seems to go away and then come back a few days later.
