I don't follow basketball that fervently b/c Sidney will probably come here and try to up his draft status and make us suck at the same time. Can't really get that worried about it, but here goes my theory. usc and ucla probably were in a bidding war for the guy through whatever channels. usc especially has been under the microscope and word got back to both programs that big brother is watching closely. I don't know where State comes into this, but I would be surprised if we were in the middle of a bidding war for a player that moved out west specifically to play in L.A. I think the guy ended up losing all of his options and he just fell into our laps and we were from his home state and a program that is better than average with some nice players already here. I think that any media person, fan of another school, or whoever is saying that it is shady on our part that he ended up in starkville is full of ****. I think the shadiness in L.A. is the reason that he is in Starkville right now.

I'm still trying to figure out how the guy upping his draft status would make us suck. Wouldn't he have to play well to raise his draft potential?

just b/c he tries to up his draft status doesn't mean he will succeed at it. Do you remember Uconn from a few years ago that had all of the first round picks and they couldn't play team ball and when out of the tourney very early? Same concept.

Read more post less...

nobody has state doing anything fishy... everyone wants to know why usc pulled off...
msu is at no risk as long as sidney is eligible, by NCAA amateur status

so i should end with... i don't follow stocks but WCOM looks good... you should buy!

My friend, you're the one I'd be trying to sell WCOM stock to.

Carmelo Anthony was a ball hog at Syracuse and that turned out pretty good.

Assuming the money trail dried up in LA due to NCAA scrutiny as many have proposed, or there was no money trail and the credit crunch/recession was starting to catch up with the family living it up in one of the most expensive areas in the country, where is the most inexpensive place to move? Mississippi.

Home is here. If the money is gone (legit or not), finances may be the main reason for the entire family to move home.

As for the Cali posers who stand holier than thou about our taking him, hell, I'd play OJ Mayo tomorrow if the NCAA couldn't tell me a solid reason he wasn't elligible. As long as the paper trail doesn't come to a conclusion during the season itself, who cares? I'd gladly take an NC title to have it taken away 2 years later on a technicality, rather than pass on a "risky" star player and stand proudly in mediocrity to find that he really was clean (or untouchable.) </p>
