If this is true then the precedent that is being set is Sidney can do whatever the 17 he wants, and no one better mess with him.

It looked last night with the comments released that this may be put on Bailey.

Sidney is our basketball version of cam newton and we can't "afford" to run him off.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I've always heard our basketball program was dirty as hell. I've always believed it too. I dont think there is much doubt about it.

seen that mentioned who started it said it was Elgin. Perhaps THAT might be why Sidney isn't going to be kicked off.

That is the case. It is a much bigger deal to get in a fight on national television than it is to get in a fight in practice, which happens occasionally in most programs.

but we're talking about a first offense- if he had been a problem before, I would have no problem with it.

Iwould hope thatStansburydidn't kick Elgin off by phone from Hawaii. You would think he would wait until he gets back to Starkville and has some time to think about it.
I do know this, Elgin is a fan favorite at the Hump and alot of our fans there are not going to like this if it is true.

Do you not see Sidney is the problem. I don't give a crap who "started it". That is a 5 year old term. You man up and walk away. Sidney is obviously a problem but Stansbury has a different set of rules for him.

we invested a lot in getting sidney and it's been a bust so far.. prolly the most disruptive member of a sports team I've seen a in a while.. may have been elgin's fault but it would have taken only one of them being responsible and this whole **** would never had happened...

stricklin and stans still hoping for something to payoff with sidney.... still lookin' for that potential... gotta kick someone off and I guess bailey doesn't have as much potential...

sad 17'd up situation..

I'm upset about that part of this as well. Elgin being the veteran that he is, it seems like he could have done something to prevent this. If you read Paul's lates post on BDJ, it looks like this has been brewing for a while. Elgin is the veteran that should have headed it off before it came to this, but it looks like he escalated the situation.

or not because most of us aren't privy to that kind of info unless it escalates to someone getting suspended. However, I'm not that shocked if what was in that report linked here is true because I've known for some time that Elgin is a hothead. He's been ejected from how many games over his career? He gets into it with opposing team's players ALL the time and I often think of him as our "hitman". Now given that persona I certainly have no problem believing that if the circumstances are right that he would have any problem mixing it up with his own teammate. Especially one that he probably considers a spoiled brat that is getting way too much attention.

Alot of people don't know this, but Elgin has been a problem on this team since his sophomore year. Something very traumatic occurred his freshman year and he's been bitter ever sense. He's always been the biggest on the team and he's bullied people around at practice and in the locker room. It's Stansbury's fault that he never stepped in to stop it but Elgin definitely has not been walking around with a haloover his head his entire career. I will say this, though, I havent heard as much about it this year as the past two years so he could have cooled off a bit. However this episode seems to show differently.

I found this in one of the Asian sensation's articles on the fight

A police officer arrived onto the scene, but Bailey attempted to
physically attack the officer. Both players were pulled into the tunnel,
where approximately eight other police officers arrived onto the scene.
Bailey continued to physically threaten the officers; by this time, the
officers were about to arrest Bailey.

I don't think we're as dirty as you guys are assuming. Its not like we stole Sidney from other big programs. They dropped him. Plus, if I was afraid of someone talking, I would be more afraid of Bailey.

Sidney has no shot at the NBA until he at least plays a bit more than 1 game. He's too out of shape to turn immediate heads. Right now he needs college more than college needs him. We drop him, he'll try at another program. Him spilling the beans on corruption only hurts his already bad reputation - no one would touch him...well...maybe Auburn.

Bailey, on the other hand, has been around the program quite a bit. He has zero chance of basketball beyond college. And he got his mule whipped on national tv. If I'm a dirty MSU, he's the guy I don't send packing.

wasn't Bailey named a captain?

He's a senior captain, yes. He wasn't picked by the coaches. Two captains are selected by the team each year. Bailey is basically a captain by elimination. Riley is a given. Who else is there? Ravern? Pouts and threatens to transfer anytime he doesn't see the ball enough? Laughably he threatened to early this year untilBolen told him that he was a senior andcouldn't transfer. Kodi? well.... yea. Bolen? Walk-on. Phil? Oh wait... So its then Elgin who has definitely had his problems but not quite to the extent of the others.

Not gonna tell his personal issues. Its definitely personal and something that any man would be very upset about. I know that sounds pretty gay but theres some stuff you just dont say to a message board about a guys personal life. I know it as fact though and it devastated him. And it wasn't anything he had any control over so I'm not going to tell a bunch of random people because I highly doubt he wants anyone to know. Sorry for the gayness of bringing it up and then not spilling the beans. Someone else on here probly knows and they may tell it but I'm not

Sounds like a teammate had sex with his girlfriend or something... I doubt Lebron James will feel bad for him if that's the case.

Of course, all things are 'relative' but if we were"dirty as hell,"Scotty Hopson would be wearing Maroon. Exactly "who" did we out bid for Sidney? No one in the country would even give him the time of day.

That said, State has a lotinvested in RSS ... time, energy, travel, meetings, phone calls, reputation, current bb season, ... Maybe even Stans futurein Starkville.
