FWIW - Sports editor at NEMS Daily Journal thinks some Sidney news will come out today. Link

No need for pointing out the obvious - I know that it's been "Sidney Day" for 6mos+ now.

if we could get him and even get 5 minutes out of his big *** Tuesday, it would help.

was the joking prediction that he will get cleared in time for us to play in the NIT. He would then average 30 and 20 leading us to an NIT championship on his way to the first round of the NBA draft.

If Sidney is not cleared to play this year, there is no way he will be a first round pick. He could be a late 2nd round pick, but that's about all. If he is cleared to play next year, look for him to return to MSU</p>

I've never seen more of a jerk around in my life. They apparently have had everything that they have needed for well over a week now to render a decision. <div>
</div><div>It appears that the only smoking gun was his inaccurate (allegedly) recollection of who drove him somewhere in 9th grade, and whether or not his dad or some other guy paid for a hotel room back in 9th grade. Oh yeah - I almost forgot.....his pop gave him some left over reebok sweat shirts from the AAU team after he had given everything else out.</div><div>
</div><div>I hope he figures out a way to sue the pants off of the NCAA and the Eligibility Center for this nonsense - or at the least go physically beat the crap out of someone in Indianapolis (not to mention his own attorney). This BS has likely cost that young man millions of dollars - not to mention the experience of being a collegiate athlete.</div><div>
</div><div>very, very sad.</div>

if he's cleared for the game after KY, then I think it will put us on a big time run... one more strong presence in the paint is about all we need to get back into the mix...

but at the same time i am not feeling sorry for Renardo and his family. everything about this situation stinks to high heaven. if it were an OM player we would all be on here talking about how dirty the guy and his family are and we wouldn't be able to say a damn thing good about jackson (not that we have said much good about jackson at this point either).

i just wish the NCAA would be consistent with the way they treat all players on any team.

Sidney has been practicing with the team for weeks now, and with a personal trainer.....Stansbury has said this many times....

The thigh, wing and leg bones fell in what I can only describe as a perfect question mark alignment.

I'll try again after the Kentucky game, expecting much better alignment of the bones at that point.

May he have his first triple double for us, soon, hopefully sooner than not at all.

Free Sidney!

How and why should he be held responsible for the actions of his parents when he was in the 9th grade?Do you think you are responsible for whatever your parents would have done when you were in the 9th grade?Hell, for that matter whywould you be responsible for what your parents did period?

No, it's not necessarily fair for Renardo to be punished for something his parents did. But, it can be reasonably inferred that whatever benefit the parents received, it was because of their son's basketball talents and promising future. If you draw a line in between parent and child, then it basically authorizes that children can be bought out by programs/parties of interest via channeling payments through the parent. The NCAA can't publicly condone that type of activity and I'm okay with that if that's their ultimate decision and logic. My problem is with the consistency in which they apply that standard to other potential student athletes. Would Renardo have received this scrutiny had he committed to Kentucky? I'm generally not a conspiracy theorist, but I do find it suspect how somebody like a John Wall can get cleared with nothing more than a slap on the wrist and, most importantly, in a very timely fashion, whereas, it's now the middle of February and we still don't know **** about our guy. That's just ********.

i really doubt the ncaa will clear him this year. everyone would blast the ncaa with stuff like "they had no evidence and they kept him out for XX number of games and look he's eligible so there was nothing to begin with!!!" if the ncaa doesn't clear him they'll get the occasional bad press from commentators but it'll be much more tame than if he was actually cleared

you can't separate the two except in some very blatant cases, meaning the kid comes out and says something to the effect of mom and dad made me do it and they used me. we both know that doesn't happen very often.

ckdog said it better than i likely would have so i will defer to his post.

I'm sure Sidney is probably guilty as hell. But I'm also sure that at least 40 of the top 50 recruits from last year are just as guilty as he is and you don't see the NCAA on a witchhunt over them.

I agree with you on the whole not seperating parent from child thing, but disagree on the UK point. The whole reason why he fell into MSU's lap was because both mighty UCLA and mighty USC took their offers back from him.
UCLA. They are easily up with UK in terms of prestige and all. If UCLA doesnt think they could get Sindey eligible and useful, that seems to kill your theory.
As for Wall being eligible, yeah it was fast, but he didnt stall. His camp cooperated right away.

I will say that its total BS to see Wall's suspension apply to exhibition games while Riek's suspension didnt. THAT seems inconsistent. If an exhibition game is eligible for counting towards a suspension for one player, it should be eligible for counting towards all players.

If KY were given the choice over whether or not to let him play, what do you think they'd pick?

i don't think he'd light them up or anything, but a few key minutes of rest for Jarvis could decide the game. Thus, he gets cleared Wednesday.

and don't go on about he won't mesh with the team. Are you saying Kodi meshes with the team? Dee has to direct him around the court puppet-master style and gets obviously frustrated when Kodi starts shooting (and missing) 3's. Any one who scores points and actually plays offense down low is going to mesh with the team.
