I feel like there's a decent chance (esp. Sweet 16) of the other 2 happening next year anyway.

but as much as I tell myself and anyone else how much fun basketball seasons have been, football success carries 5 times the weight as basketball success. (At least to me). Now, you could continue to tack things on and change my mind, but I would rather be in UGA's shoes...or even South Carolina's for that matter.

Without a doubt for me. Most probably wouldn't vote for that, but if we could win a CWS Championship and Mark Martin could win a Cup championship, my sports world wishes would be complete and I would just go fishing from now on.

I'd like to win the CWS as well. That's only because I like baseball the best of the big three.

I just remember how enjoyable life was when State was winning the peach bowl, going to the SEC championship, winning the snow bowl, even the Liberty Bowl...football in the south is king. I take a mid-level bowl game.

My thoughts exactly. The cws and a sweet 16 appearance would be great, but they are not college football. Another deciding factor is of the 3, a bowl game is the only one I would most likely be able to attend. It's funny because when I first became a dawg fan it was because of baseball. Now football is my favorite with basketball second and baseball last.

I barely went with mid-level bowl over Sweet 16. I figure mid-level bowl is top-25. I'd take the Sweet 16 over a low-level bowl or an Elite 8 over a mid-level bowl though. The CWS would be great too, but nobody outside of Mississippi would know or care about it. We'd get a lot more recognition nationally by doing something in a sport that people watch and care about.

because of popularity. But in football, there are 6 home games, versus close to 30 in baseball. I would probably rather watch bad football every other saturday than bad baseball five times a week.

The CWS is a pretty big event on ESPN. I'd say that the people of Omaha care about it. Not to mention the fans of the other teams that go. I'd say that it's pretty popular throughout the south and southwest.

I think two of college baseball's problems are 1. There aren't very many good Northern schools, which makes it a regionally based sport, just like Men's ice hockey, and 2. there are so many games that people only start following the team if they make the postseason, or more specifically a SR. I'm sure most schools have fans that are like "Hey, that's Texas A&M, they must have had a pretty good year." Another reason is that college basketball's postseason runs into over half of the regular season.

the CWS is more prestigous than the Peach Bowl. You have a chance to win a NC if you go to Omaha. If you go to the Peach Bowl, it means you won 8-9 games and finished third to fifth in the SEC. A nice season, and a great bowl to go to, but certainly no chance to win a NC.

you can take the money and invest it in other programs to get them to a higher level (or pay an aau team to get better b-ball recruits)

Exactly. You're no more than a few days away from a possible National Championship when the first pitch is thrown. The Peach Bowl is cool and all, and I'd obviously love to make it back, but the winner of the Peach Bowl is, well, the winner of the Peach Bowl. Give me the legitimate shot at the NC any day.

i'd take the bowl game, especially if we're talking next year. we rode the coaching change to hang on to a good recruiting class this year and that might help us for one more year, but with a decent bowl game to show the direction of the program our recruiting would get another much needed shot in the arm.

i love basketball and baseball but if i had to choose one to be good in while the others sucked i would choose football.
