What was up with that ending? Was flipping back and forth between this one and the Batavia game and that last play (or lack there of) was strange. Looked like the refs were being a little sneaky.

They were walking off the field, ended up having to "run" off

I was referring to just before that. The spotting of the ball. It was tough to see exactly what happened on the stream (bad quality). I didn't see the refs spot the ball.
Simeon was lining up where there guy was tackled with about 15 seconds left. Refs walked over to pick up the ball, walked forward three yards then the clock ran out.

Simeon is very good. Both teams deserved to move on, sadly only one does. I had a big problem with the officiating for both ends. Both teams feel jobbed I’ll bet although different feeling obviously for Naz. Here’s the thing about the last play, it should have never happened, very clear fumble a few plays earlier. I saw the replay multiple times and it’s clear as day. If I knew how I’d have it sent to me and post it but that’s not feasible. The game should have been over. As far as that last play. I’m a Naz guy and I felt terrible for Simeon, if it wasn’t for the fumble evening things out, at least in my mind, it would have been a travesty.

Simeon’s center bobbled the ball then picked it up and threw it over the refs head. Refs spotted the ball with about 3 seconds left, seemed like Simeon gave up on the play. Great game, I really underestimated Simeon.

Edgy tweeted a couple periscope feed of the last 50 seconds. You can check it out.

Yes you did, I did too but didn’t publicly make an *** of myself, at least not this time.

Simeon is a hell of a football team. They are very well coached, Brown is absolutely special and that Palmer kid... I don’t know if he’s not a qualifier or what but he’s a power 5 WR. Hard to see the expressions of the Simeon kids leaving the stadium.

Simeon wasn't prepared for that last play as if they didn't say to spike ball/ get to the line during timeout. Qb came to sideline for a play. Ball was tossed to ref who bobbled it, mass chaos. From sitting in stadium it looked like brown dove and hit pile on for a TD earlier . Final play call was interesting from the 2yd line, a run up the middle from shotgun ( really 7yds needed now) And stuffed the middle all game

On 3rd down with 20 seconds left from the 2, Simeon should have run a pass play. Either they score a TD or they have an incompletion with a 4th down play left to run.

Officiating was dubious all game, I had a feeling whoever benefited from the last dubious call was going to win.

The last few seconds weren't on the refs. The center dropped the ball and the team couldn't get set. The final play should indeed have been a pass.

I did see some calls missed both ways, it is what it is.

That said, the talent on that field today would make a solid Recruiting class. Brown and Palmer (#7, I forget his last name but he was megatron like) are lethal on the deep ball. That first TD was one of the best catches I've ever seen at the HS level. Someone share it please. #99 on defense was monstrous, despite being the smallest guy out there on the lines.

For Naz Evans played awesome despite puking all game, and Love is you know, just too short ;)... The Naz front seven is great, as good as that secondary.

Tyler Morris is quite the FR, JJ has a target going forward for sure. JJ is also the best SO passer I've ever seen.

I couldn't believe the ending in terms of intensity. Play was great. Sadly Seemed to carry to the stands and off towards the lot. Some angry people. It's just football guys...

High School Lites showed that last play but unfortunately, cut several seconds of the confusion. From what I recall from my seat at midfield at about the 5th row and what was shown on HSL: With 20.5 on the clock on 3rd down on the 2 yard line, RB was stuffed at about the 5, and pushed back to about the 8. As I recall, players unpiled, probably 10 or 11 ticks left on the clock. From there, looked like ball was incorrectly spotted initially around the 7. Correct spot probably around the 5. Then, with probably 7 ticks left on the clock, ref #1 who incorrectly spotted ball, tossed the ball to ref #2, who correctly spotted the ball with under 5 ticks left. All of this was eating up clock, but I thought Simeon could have gotten off one last snap with a second or 2 left. Utter confusion between the refs who seemed to have no sense of urgency, and Simeon side who just wanted to run a play. Can the refs call an officials time out there? As a Nazareth fan, I would have understood if they had.

Ask a ref... there is not supposed to be a sense of urgency... HS refs are instructed to not spot a ball ready any faster late in the game than they would under normal circumstances in the first quarter.... they are not supposed to assist the offense in going fast.

Regardless of spotting ball and whatever else you want to discuss- keep in mind;
why in the hell are you not throwing a jump ball to your 6’4 beast WR who dominated the art of high pointing the ball all game long?

Great game for both schools but man the play call is baffling

I agree on JJ being the best soph I’ve seen. Only one other I can think of that is close. Jon Budmayr from MCC. Didn’t he beat Naz when he was a soph?

Agreed. and correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t his brother Brody budmayr the QB coach at Nazareth?
