I am done. I have supported Stansbury remaining as our head coach for years. Not because I think he's a coaching mastermind, but because I haven't felt that we could get anyone to come in that would do significantly better. Right or wrong, that's been my stance. After watching yet another ill prepared team play last night like they had no clue what to do for about 36 minutes of the game, I'm just done. The next coach may come in and fall flat on his face, but I'm sick of watching this garbage and even worse, a head coach that refuses to accept any blame or responsibility. I can't remember the last time I've heard Rick say something was even partially his fault. I have 6 season tix and I had full intentions of going to our game against South Alabama this Sat, but I honestly now don't even know that I care to go anymore. As much excitement as Rick helped bring to the basketball program, he has now sucked all life out of it. How do the rest of you feel?

As bad as last night was, it was just one game. There's still a chance Stans could turn this around and we could have a very good season. I'm not betting on it, but it could happen. Right now, I'm strongly leaning to replacing him, but he's got the rest of the year to change my mind.

todemand his team dress in MSU sweats or something that represents MSU well when he knows that the national tv cameras are rolling, there is no way that he can create any uniformity on the court. They both go hand in hand. I think that the administration will fire him after the season as I posted at the end of last season. This team will under achieve just like every year. I think Stans suffers from a lack of education and an inabilty to coach in a bright and successful way. He is the definition of a simpleton.

I wouldn't have said I was strongly leaning toward replacing him if it hadn't been for the last 3-5 years. Those definitely weren't "just one game." I was just trying to say that, even though I don't think it will happen, there's still a chance Stans could turn it around this year and we could have a good season. Right now, I'd be a lot more surprised with a Sweet Sixteen than I would be with missing the tournament again.</p>

I'm still not one that says we have elite talent, but we have more talent than Akron. We have the 4th or 5th most talent in the SEC, which should equate to a fairly easy NCAA berth. Last night didn't help our chances. If we enter SEC play with 5 or more losses, just get rid of him and start from scratch.

He was promoted to his level of incompetence. Where it should have been patently apparent to the athletic administration that he was not competent to run a D-1 basketball program, reality was suspended for considerations of a financial nature and as a result of the laziness and incompetence of the hairlipped ******* occupying that position at the time.

We truly can do better. We have reasonably competent administrators in place to bring in the right candidate.

with how quiet you were last night. Even though I've always thought that you were quite excessive with striking your points, it was always hard for me to disagree. I figured seeing one of your rants was just much of a constant in the Stansbury era as him losing to an inferior OOC opponent was. Not seeing one of your posts was disturbing and clearly I wasn't the only one who noticed.

accepted the fact that he isn't and never will be a coaching genius. With that said if he isn't able to get this team to the NCAA tournament then it is time for him to either move on or bring in some assistants that can compliment his recruiting ability with some good X and O coaching.

Remember how it was well known - The AD stated it many times - that he was waiting to see how the team did in the Gator Bowl before making a final decision on RichRod's fate ?

One of the ESPN writers put it best - if you are waiting for the results of one game for a head coach, you're already fired.

Every year Stansbury has one of these (or more) games where we get our asses handed to us on our home floor by some nobody. Some school our football team would beat by 50, our baseball team wins a 7 games series in 4-5 games. This game was the RichRod game.

It's time Scott, do it now and get it over with. I'd rather watch us struggle knowing that a better coach is coming that continue to watch this three ring circus.

This actually looks like more fun than last night did.

and would constantly make excuses. Those days are pretty much over. It's become painfully obvious to just about everyone with a functional brain that this is the Stands Farewell Tour

You used to piss me off thoroughly, but I stepped back and took a breath, looked at the program after Lawrence Roberts senior year, and then realized you were dead right.

I have defended Stans for years simply because it was the one program that we were at least competitive in year in and year out, but I have realized that within the last few years I really no longer enjoy watching MSU basketball. Changed the channel at halftime and watched the CMA's.

for two or three years now. It doesn't look like they're having fun, and it's not fun to watch them...it's all supposed to be fun or at least entertaining, not painful.

..if you were really done, you would not be going to the game Sat.

I am tired of Stansbury, but I am still too much in football mode to really give a crap about basketball right now.

A loss in Nov. doesn't really mean that much in college basketball. The season is too long & there are too many remaining games to become emotionally invested in a Nov. basketball loss.

you don't fire him now. Last night sucked and it looks to be rinse, wash, and repeat for this basketball season but if he gets us to the tourney - you can't fire him and no way you should fire him.

It's tourney or bust.

And there is no reason that Stricklin could not privately be getting his ducks in a row in looking for a coach. It would be idiotic to fire Stans now nor does he deserve that. He deserves the season to get to the tourney. I still don't know what I would do if we aren't deserving of an at-large but get to the tourney by winning the SEC Tournament.

I can appreciate the effort that guys like Bost, Moultrie, and Hood are giving out there. They made a lot of mistakes the other night, but they're trying to make things happen. I'm still not sure whether I'll be going Sat afternoon, but I'll still support the team.

Great thread! Fire the most successful coach we have. Fire the guy, who for the last 13 years has the third best winning percentage in the SEC; fire the guy, who regularly beats Mississippi, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and LSU. Fire him and replace him with ____________? Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, just to mention a few or our neighbors have deen trying to find areal winner for decades. What a bunch of brats, cry babies and malcontents.Grow up.

BTW, about the profanity in some of the posts, do your mothers know you talk (type) like this?

This is my first and last post. So don't even bother . . .

When you word a poll like that, you're trying to influence the vote and the results are worthless.

but came up null. How have we ranked nationally in the last say 3 years recruiting wise? seems to me we get top notch recruits pretty much every year. I would think on average we rank in the top 15???? Stans can recruit...get players. Noboby that is solid coaching wise loses to teams like Akron at home under any circumstances. No top ten team.

Great teams/coaches play disciplined ball not street ball. Our brand is street ball under him = sloppy. That's great if your playing prison ball and 25 to's a game is ok. Personally, I'd like to move on to a more discipline oriented coach.

On the other hand, we were not the most disciplined team in the world circa 1998 final four run.

Every school moves on from their most successful coach at some point- Sherrill, Polk, Bobby Bowden, Phil Fulmer...at some point you have to make a change when they just arent getting it done anymore....Stands had 4 NCAA's in his first 7 seasons- but only 2 in his last six- and if he misses again this season- 2 in 7 and zero in the last 3- that means it's time to move on <div>
</div><div>He does not have the 3rd best winning percentage in the SEC the last 13 years- thats just a lie- I know Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee's are better just off the top of my head...not to mention, there is life in basketball after the SEC Tourney- the season doesnt end there</div><div>
</div><div>LSU has 3 SEC titles, a Sweet 16, and a Final Four since Stands became coach- they have been more successful than us during his tenure....</div><div>UPig has just as many NCAA's as we do during Stands tenure and just brought in a top 5 recruiting class- this coaching change is likely to work for them</div><div>Alabama has an Elite 8 appearance during the Stands tenure, and has since hired them a lil ol mid-major coach that has a West title in just 2 years of coaching them and is ranked to start his 3rd season- looks like a coaching change has certainly helped them..</div><div>.Mississippi? Kennedy has won just as many West titles as Stands since he has been Mississippi coach. He has taken the worst SEC basketball program and made them average- he will either take the next step with them or they should fire him too</div><div>
</div><div>go back to Jean's page, which is where you belong because obviously you are content with mediocrity- and since you dont like profanity- 17 you</div>

And your choices are:

1. Yes, I am a dick smoker.
or
2. No, I am a pole smoker.

I think Stans should be replaced unless he surprises me this year. It's just a fact thatif a poll'snot worded neutrally, it's worthless.
