Do you think our program is better off today than it was when croom was hired? Explain.

I'm not one of the "croom sheep" as people like to call him. If offensive performances like this continue, I say he fires his buddy first, and if that doesn't work, then he he has to go. However, I'll always have respect for him because in the last days of Sherrill, and even in his first couple of years, I remember leaving games at halftime. It was that embarrassing. I remember him promising us one thing when he was hired, and that was that it was going to be difficult, but he would get us to where we could compete. We don't have half the athletes that Auburn has, yet we played with them last night. To answer my question, I think we're WAY ahead of where we used to be.... HOWEVER, I don't want to settle for stopping here at just being competitive.

The end of the JWS era had our program in shambles in practically every aspect. It was horrible.</p>

Croom has screwed up a lot. But our team can compete in most games, which was not true when JWS left. The NCAA stuff was also a parting gift from the A and M'er.</p>

So don't tell me you want to go back there. We need a new direction, but backwards ain't my choice for it.</p>

Look around, there are predictably a lot of MSU fans who are almost happy about the 3-2 loss to Auburn. You know, it was one of those "classic SEC slobberknockers and we lost to a top 10 team." This of course ignores the fact that we already lost to La. Tech, and that our offense has consistently been the worst in the SEC and one of the worst in the country for 5 years now.

And the reason a change hasn't occurred yet? Because it never will as long as Croom is the head coach. I don't know why anyone thinks he'll make a change. It would have been obvious to any good, objective head coach two years ago that we needed a new OC and a new philosophy. Croom isn't objective. He doesn't care what anyone thinks, and he's not going to fire a friend. And because we put ourselves in an awkward p.c. position and a recently self-inflicted financial quandary, about the only thing we can do is sit back and pray that Croom continues to luck out like he did in '07. Knowing the SEC and the college football landscape as it exists today, that's highly unlikely though. The results so far this year are showing it.
