How many of you have actually seen th efollowing guys play football. Highlight videos and all-star gamesdo not count. Only actual football games, and be honest.

CJ Johnson
Nikolas Brassell
Tobias Manning
Jermaine Whitehead

I watched some South Panola games online, but have never seen the others. Why the hell do people get so pissed off about guys they have never even seen play football? Over stars? Am I wrong that most of these guys are never actually seen in game action by the guys rating them?

SawMadison Centralplay against Warren Central and Joe Price stood out most to me. They didn't get the ball to Tobias muchbut it was obvious he is a good talent. However,I wasn't that impressed with how he attempted to block on the outside, and he didn't seem to have breakaway speed on punt returns. Joe Price was definitely the better athlete in that game.

Our coaches have seen them play and so have LSU/Alabama/Auburn's coaches. If the top schools have offered, they must be good. Just because most people haven't seen them play doesn't mean we can't get upset.

and AL-MS all-star MVP with 17 tackles was good enough for me. Plus its a position that with all starters gone will be wide open next year. The rest are all replaceable.

I agree on CJ, and all these guys obviously have talent or wouldn't be getting offers(msu124). I'm not saying they're not good, and I'm not saying people shouldn't get upset. Who am I to tell you what to get your panties in a wad over? I'm just wondering how many poeople base their emotions off of other people's opinion's of people. Back to CJ. We knew(thought) we were getting a good one all along, but his hype exploded at the All-star game in to another world.

I've said it before, I keep up with this **** daily, and it is fun, but I sure don't lose sleep over it. Losing CJ is as close as I have come to actually being pissed off over any of this.

Nobody watches these guys play. There's no way to tell who's good. You are putting thatMississippiState education to good use.

I think Singleton is overrated. Brassel looks to be a pretty good player. I don't think either will be an All-SEC type player, and I wouldn't be surprised to see either or both wind up as a big bust.

So people have to go out and personally watch high schoolers play before they have a right to an emotion or an opinion? I think folks have a right to be pissed over losing multiple dandy dozen players who were formerly committed to MSU, especially amid accusations of dirty dealing on the part of UM. I don't have to watch em to know. I bet if you go back and look at the dandy dozen for the last 20 years or however long they been doing it, the percentage of players off the list who turn out to be good players in college is very likely to be higher than the percentage of non-dandy-dozen players who turn out to be good players in college. Bottom line: these kids are projected by experts to be the best football players in the state.

Big Tom Callahan: "Of course, I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ***, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it."

than someone who hasn't seen him play. As for your Dandy Dozen bet, a couple of weeks ago someone went back several years and compared how the C-L top 10 did in college vs. their 11-20. If anything, the 11-20 group did better overall than the top ten did.

Compared to you, they would be experts. You wouldn't know a talented football player if he kicked you in the balls. Like , I said, they're obviously good or they wouldn't have offers, but to get all bent out of shape over kids you've never seen is laughable to me. I was really just curious how many people have actually seen these jkids. Didn't say they weren't goo, and didn't tell people not to get upset. I will just laugh at you if you do. But Joan, you've always been distant from reality, and the reality is, Mullen has produced in his short time here. For anyone to be questioning him at this point is dumb in my opinion.

why don't we say the clarion ledger top 20 vs. non-top-20. the point obviously still stands.

Wow. Resorting to childishness over simple opinions eh AlCoDog? Not much of a man if you can't control yourself, my friend. Don't start a thread if you aren't welcoming comments and opinions.

And I think Mullen is great. That's not what the thread speaks to.

"Oh, I'd take 'em, but they would sit on the bench because they aren't as good as the guys we will get next year."

I answered for you.

Sure, I'd be pleased if they signed with MSU. If you even read my post I specifically said that I think Brassel is a good player. But I wouldn't all that excited about Singleton, and I wasn't when he was committed to us. I would be excited if CJ Johnson signed with us, though.

Tobias and Brassell play in person several times. I think that they are good athletes, but I can understand why some people think that they may be overrated because neither of them really played in an offensive system that really took advantage of their abilities to the fullest extent.

Wherever they go, they are both going to have to learn to run routes cleanly, learn a more complex offensive system, and learn how to block, among other things. That's why I don't think either will play very much next year unless they go to JUCO.

And I'll be honest, in my opinion, the only difference between Singleton/Brassell and Price/Market is that the first two are 6'1" and the last two are 5'10" or shorter. But all are great athletes.

Even though I suspect you're being disingenuous. I was simply trying to point out the same mentality Ole Miss fans (including me) have when it appears we won't get a specific player we really wanted.

I could very easily be completely wrong about any of them, but the only one I'm really pissed about losing is Johnson. I'ma little pissed about Whitehead and Brassel, and not much at all about Singleton.

Worst case scenario with CJ, barring injury, is that he is a solid 4 year player.

I would be disappointed about Brassell too, but I don't think he will qualify. And I said that when he was committed to us. Brassell doesn't have a great frame, but he has tremendous speed. He's a little like Deshean Jackson at the same age.

I liked Tobias better as a junior than a senior. He is a lot like Bumphis, but he isn't as strong as Bumphis. I think Tobias would have been a great fit in our offense out of the slot, but he won't be a difference maker at Ole Miss.

The worst thing about losing Whitehead is that he appears to be a good kid and a really good student. The kind of guy you want on your team. I hear he may have to play safety in college though. He is the one guy who I haven't seen play except on video.

he is a great player week inand week out at the MS Class 3A level. He is super athletic with a frame that can stand 20 more pounds. He made things look easy but Philly had such a pathetic schedule that a lot of people would have looked good. His performances in the All Star and Army games really got a lot of attention. Now I do not know what Hazelhurst did in the playoffs but they made CJ a non factor. I think he would have played for MSU in his second year for sure and perhaps his first. He would have been an awesome redshirt but CJ probably would not have liked that too much. That said, I am not losing sleep over losing CJ or any other 18 yr old recruit. I think what most people are fed up with is the process and what may have happened to cause such a quick about face.

wasn't to impressed with tobias either time. Especially after the titty baby tantrum after the nw rankin game that included crying (i have previosly posted about this). Brassell looks like a player but didn't get the ball that much. Market seemed to make more of an impact on the game. For the record, wish we had got all of them.
