during the BG game that after Russell executed a TD play, he came off the field and Mullen was there to congratulate him and Russell just walked by. Thought this was kinda strange behavior between a coach and his QB. QB controversy??

Did you see Tom Brady try to give another player a high five and get left hanging in the Saints game? It was pretty funny.

I would like to thank Russell and his parents for their commitment to Mississippi State. I wish him good fortune and God speed in whatever endeavors he pursues in the future. I have appreciated the effort, time, dedication and sacrifice he invested in this football program.

I like Russell, sometimes I wonder if we would bring him in during the second half it might create a spark. Much the same way we used to utilize Dak. We all know that he waits too long, but if he has the time to check down receivers he gets the ball in through some very tight windows. With Tyler we either get a quick td or find ourselves in the redzone, or we go backwards.

I imagine he would have played some more last night if he hadn't gotten banged up.

The Russell family is top shelf and an asset to our community. I know it's been a hard year for Tyler and I'm not the least bit surprised of the dignity and grace he has has shown as this season unfolded. I'm confident he will be successful if he continues to walk the path he is on.

Thanks for your post.

Shmuley, I`ll don`t know how you`ll take this (just kidding of course) but a guest on H to H the other day said that they had heard Tyler speak in church from the pulpit and he knocked it out of the park. I`ve got to believe he indeed does have a wonderful future in front of him. I don`t want to inject a negative but it would have been interesting to see him play at a program with a first rate QB coach and an offense built for him.

Dear Tyler,

I'm sorry that my incompetance has ruined your college career. I'm sorry that I couldn't figure out how to run a no-huddle offense in 2011. I'm sorry that I didn't know anything about a 2 qb system in 2011. I'm sorry that I forgot what a screen pass was in 2012. I'm sorry that I left you in the Gator Bowl when you were not 100% instead of giving Dak some reps until halftime and letting you regroup. I'm sorry that I still haven't learned to manage a 2 qb system by your senior year. I'm sorry that I never learned to call plays to your strenths instead of always setting you up to fail.

I hope that the NFL scouts will give you the benefit of the doubt because I coached you.

Signed,
Dan

Tyler is a hell of a person and I'm proud he is a bulldog. I am pretty sure that in 20 years he'll still have that reputation with the bulldog family. Mullen... Not so sure.

I did see Nickoe completely ignore Mullen when Mullen was telling him to get his *** off the field last night. I took another coach to come over and escort him to the locker room.

Really? To me, on TV Whitley kept trying to explain himself to Mullen and Mullen didn't want to hear it from him. Which I would have done the same as well. Just go to the locker room. Seen a bunch of players get ejected and hang around looking for someone they could vent and explain their side to even when it was shown they were in the wrong.

A senior safety getting 2 15-yard penalties shouldn't be doing crap to have to explain. If you're gonna get a 15-yarder, get it on a big hit not that crap

I agree. I meant if I was Mullen I would have acted the same. I wouldn't want to hear it from the player either.

I think Tyler may do well at a nfl combine. He has all the tools that scouts look for, size, arm strength. His problems with holding on too long can be fixed if he's in the right offense. He's a great kid and I'm sure he will make it in life no matter what. As for Whitley, he needs to sit for a while. No excuses for that behavior.
