genius. I am happy that I no longer have more marketing imagination (I have very little) than the MSU athletic dept. Every new day makes me wonder just how much LT set back our athletics programs.

I made many marketing presentations (not that long ago) to LT and staff for the Jackson Metro Area. Didn't even look at it twice... even when presented with the fact that the largest concentration of MSU alums in the U.S. was in the JACKSON AREA. LT would sniff and walk out and I was informed several years running that "in house" research revealed that all "game attendance came from within a 90 mile radius. Jackson was not in the radius....they don't come to our games."

My only reply was " have you asked them to come? Have you ever made them feel like they're welcome to come?" Blank dismissive stares...

Our current marketing staff is getting the job done. And yes, they are marketing heavily in the Jackson (and other) market(s).

Good job!

the "marketing research" for that was done at a midweek baseball game.

And honestly, if thier marketing research was correct, that's all the more reason TO advertise to the larger areas of the state such as the Jackson metro area, the coast, and the Memphis/Southaven area, which would be my guesses as far as the largest alumni areas in the state. Probably followed by Tupelo, Meridian, the delta (Greenville/Greenwood), and the Golden Triangle region in no particular order.

in grad school in the late 90's for a grad school project. I asked the common questions regarding marketing or lack thereof. Basically Grad School Marketing 101 and Nemeth's stock answer to every question was LT won't budget that or LT said we don't need that. I was amazed and the stupidity of the leadership and I was just some grad school hack.

I can honestly say it's been a pleasure working with the marketing team, and look foward to many more years of business and winning seasons.

LT wasn't the AD that was supposed to have this great "marketing mind", he was there because he was good at stretching the dollar. And he did that very well, considering we have a bottom of the pole athletic budget. he did some good things for the university, maybe not popular.. but he did do some good things. personal opinion

Whatever good things LT did can not even come close to overcoming the crap he was responsible for. It still pisses me off that the small minded vindictive SOB still has an office on campus, sits in the press box, and pretty much acts like he is still the AD. Normally, when you fire someone you make them leave the premisis.

come, were already coming to the games. Why advertise? Lazy, narrow minded approach to marketing. As long as his cronies and the big donors were catered to, he was not concerned with the average fan. Thus, his pompous attitude. He needed to be at Ole Miss with his attitude and mindset.

that LT didn't realize if you bring in more dollars you don't have to make them stretch as far. He also never got the concept that the Athletic Director works for the Alumni. Larry was a good AD for that bygone era of out to pasture coaches running the Athletic Department. Those days are gone and I am glad that LT is gone with them.

There ought to be fieldbeds of dubloons buried around the athletic department. That's why he is still on campus, guarding the buried treasure.

You are correct in that he did some good things, the greatest of which was resign.

is he didn't do things to defend the athletic program. Like all of the Ole Miss PI BS in the early 2000's. He just sat there and did nothing. He voted against the cowbell. You can stretch dollars and still defend your program.

He also did a poor job with coaching hires. What would have happened had we hired Jimbo Fisher instead of Croom? What would have happened had we hired Manieri instead of Polk II?

I was officially off of the LT bandwagon as soon as he brought Polk II back.

because of his LEADERSHIP, the cancer known as LT is gone.

Byrne and now Stricklin are showing us exactly how back asswards LT was. never try, never think outside the box, preserve the good ol' boy system. LT showed what an ignorant slut he is when he brought Polk back. that move equaled the death penalty for our baseball program.
