and please don't start a Tyson Lee argument. That's why I mentioned Mullen's "evolving offense" in my original post. It ain't hard to see the difference in what we do when we have a serviceable QB.

we ran the ball more because we were ahead and not playing from three TDs behind.
Any rational dog fan here will tell you that it isn't a secret that Mullen likes a running QB and a strong running game. That's not to say he won't utilize a good WR or that his WR don't have success, because that would be a lie.

Now, on to your response...

When you werelosing gamesin 2009 and we werecoming off our second Cotton Bowl, what's your excuse for us throwing the ball more then?

although recruiting tends to take it away from others.

So when you said that this was false:
-Mullen's offense is more WR friendly. To hell with the numbers.
And later in the thread, this:

The numbers that say we threw the ball more often than you.
you were just using "more" in some other, non-comparative sense, I guess.

I'll agree that neither has an advantage when it comes to offensive philosophy, but that just pushes it more toward the results and coaching I was pointing out, if you're weighing pros and cons. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what we think *should* go into a decision, and my whole point originally was that I didn't buy into the setup to embarrass MSU.

We started passing from the opening kick. Only way to win was to score 70pts. Bama game might have been the exception to the rule, as we didn't throw more than bubble screens until just before half. Even with a game like Fresno where we had a pile of rushing yds, it was mostly from a handful of big plays. The rest of the game was fairly balanced.

I said an "evolving" Dan Mullen offense. Do you really think our offense in the last half of the season is the exact offense we ran in 2009? Seriously? And why would that be? Because of Tyson Lee, our 5'9" walk-on QB. Also because 18 months ago Chris Relf could not complete a pass.

Fast forward to November of 2010 and the Gator Bowl. Does our offense look the same to you? Of course we ran the ball 8,000 times in 2009 and you threw it more with your Heisman candidate QB. We didn't have the capability to complete a 17ing pass in 2009. That's the "excuse" you're looking for, I guess.

That's why I used the word "evolving."
