i got an email from Bulldawg Junction, and I generally dont read them all the way through, but I noticed as I skimmed through, at the end there was a part about advertising on BDJ.....what was intriguing, is that it said that BDJ has over 1 million hits a month.

"It also creates new advertising opportunities as well. I am open to help any business out there that is looking to promote itself with a Bulldog message board. We average over 1 million site hits a month and can help get your company the exposure it wants and needs. I have an advertising spot right now for a business that would like to be seen on all of the recruiting stories I run each day. If you are interested in advertising with me, let me know and we can discuss what your needs are and what the best way to go would be."

I am not disputing, but I thought I read where SPS was the largest MSU site with over 7K hits a day.....if what is stated above, wouldnt that be over 33K hits a day for BDJ? I was shocked they had that many hits seeing the amount of traffic on the message boards.

Did i misunderstand something here?

Pretty sure it's way over 7k here. Probably closer to 40k per day

I don't know where to find the data on this new site, but NAFOOM got 20k yesterday, and obviously this board gets much more traffic. I believe this site gets more than 7k unique visitors per day, views/hits are way over that.

SixPackSpeak received 2.1 million page views in the month of September. And that's not counting everyone b/c some people block the javascript code that counts the number of hits.

With Yuku - which every refresh was counted - we had some months where we were over 4 million page views.

Although it does not tell the whole story on it's own, unique visitors is a better measurement of the breadth of a site's audience. Sites like BDJ, sixpack, etc. will have a ton of hits from the same users in a day. If I were looking for exposure, I would want to advertise with the site that reaches the most customers, and not just the same limited set day-after-day.

ETA: Being a free board, sixpack probably has the highest uniques out off all the MSU sites

Hits are a very misleading measurement of traffic in the web world. For instance, if you have 1 page with 5 images on it, that registers as 6 hits because the browser had to request the page plus five items from the server, when in reality its only 1 visit.

I don't believe that's accurate. Plus the ads come from different servers, and are cached locally and delivered via CDN.
