Christy's is opening a location in Oxford. Google tells me it started in Starkville. Even though NAFOOM is the restaurant board, this seems like an SPS staple. Is it worth $12 for a burger, fries, and a drink?

Based on those prices, yes. It's a very good burger, and you can tell the meat they use is fresh. Their spicy fries (don't know of anything else to call them) are very good as well. <div>However, the service here in Starkville is spotty at best. Don't know how it is/will be in Oxford, but if it's anything like here you shouldn't go there if you're in a rush. Usually is gonna take you a solid 50 minutes to an hour.</div>

....however, you must eat it realizing that somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour after consumption, you are going to need a bathroom nearby at potentially very short notice, so I wouldn't recommend picking one up and then driving to Jackson or Memphis, because bad things could happen. Shoot, just driving to Batesville may be too dangerous. It's something you want to get if you're going to be remaining in Oxford for several hours.

delicious hamburgers. However, you should eat them with a toilet in close proximity. I would recommend eating it on the toilet to be safe.

I grew up in Starkville, and lived there for 25 yrs. I knew the original owners of Christy's. Went to school with the daughter in the90's.It was named after her. Back then the burgers were huge, more spicyfries than you could ever want, andall around $6.00.Miss those days. Haven't eatin there in a while since moving upto north Miss. I'm sure it's good, but I bet it can't touch the one's I ate when I wasa pup.</p>

It was freaking awesome when it was in the little shack, but when they tore it down and built the new one, I thought the quality went down a bit. I hope it got better after I left Starkville. From sound of things here it has.

And when I was a student, the best burgers in town were out of town at Sonny's. You could get a triple cheeseburger with the patties slathered in sauce for five or six bucks.

Now when you bring up Sunny's BBQ, your talking about a whole different thing. If you ever had the chance to meet Sunny when he was alive, you would know that he was a good ole country, down to earth, guy. A crook, but still a good guy face to face. If you knew to ask for them he had what he called, off the meat skins, that were awesome. Would pull them right off the hog while cooking and poor his sauce all over them. AWESOME!!!!

Just yesterday I had my first Mugshots burger, the Cowart. Comes with comeback, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and provalone.

I much preferred Christy's.

The Mugshots burger had this tasty but huge thick sourdough bun. I'd prefer a less bready burger. And the meat itself was less tasty than Christy's.

Long live Christy's.

Be prepared to wait a while. If you see more than 5 cars there, you're going to be waiting for at least 30min. I went on a Sunday one time and they told me it was an hour to an hour and a half wait.<div>
</div><div>They have a ghetto white girl who's been working there for a couple years. She'll stare you right in the eyes when taking your order and make you feel awkward as hell.</div>

better than Christy's. But Christy's is better than Phillips Grocery--most overrated hamburger in America.

which I think is the ****. It makes life much more easier on the customer to dress their burger without someone in the back screwing it up. And yes their hamburgers still taste good as usual and they are big. I usually just order a cheeseburger and a drink and that is it. I can't eat the whole hamburger and basket of fries. And ordering the hamburger saves me 2 to 3 dollars so it is worth it.

The time before last when I went there my buddy had never had a hamburger there. I watched him order the double cheeseburger basket and he managed to polish off the 20 pounds of hamburger and 5 pounds of spicy fries. That **** was worthy of Man Vs. Food.

I used to eat at the one in Starkville fairly regularly and I liked it well enough. Good variety, etc. But if you get a to go order your bag will be greasy as hell by the time you get it home.

If you don't mind a drive I highly recommend Bill's Hamburgers in Amory. Quite tasty and inexpensive.
