You can never tell in a picture because of the camera angle. Sometimes a two pounder looks like a ten and vice versa. I haven't caught a seven pounder in years. How far is that **** from San Antonio?

The place is legendary for big bass. Out of the top 50 bass caught in Texas, 36 came out of Fork including seven of the top 10 and the 17.18 state record.
I go out a couple times a year and stay with a friend who owns Lake Fork Tacke (www.lftlures.com) and spend a couple days on the water. Last trip caught about 60 over three days on the water. Smallest was about 4.5 and largest just under 9 and an overall average of about 6.5.<a href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/fork/">

The size of the mams relative to the arms maybe? Very nice upper body strength.

dove hunt every year at my good friends ranch in Carrizo Springs, TX. During the middle of the day when we are not bird hunting we drive around and shoot pigs and if we get lazy go sit at one of his tanks and fish. Last year we were sitting on the pier and my friend is next to me and has his lure about five feet away from the pier about to reel it back up and bam, a little bass hits it. Then two seconds later BAM!! Big boy slams the little guy down his throat and the hook comes out of little fella and hooks big fella and my friend basically yanks them both out of the water since the are about 3 feet away. We were completely floored. Pic below right after he yanked them out of the water.

so I was reeling in this basically dead bream as the hook went through it and a 6 pounder went after it. Caught both.

I thought that was pretty damn cool.

in hopes that this year someone will be able to land Leroy again. Funny thing is, there are about 20 guys that have gone on this hunt for 10 years, and we never bring fishing rods. But my friends dad has told us for years that we are crazy for not fishing in the afternoon. He said he stocked the tanks 20 years ago and with droughts and the tank levels always going up and down we figured they were all dead. After the Leroy incident, we have already planned cash buy in fishing tournaments every afternoon for next years hunt.
