As most of you know, SixPackSpeak.com gets charged for using Yuku as their message board option. With that being said, our subscription runs out August 8th, 2009. Therefore, we ask you, our dear readers to consider contributing to the best message board in the history of mankind.

At ezboard, we bought gold status for a year. At yuku, we get gold status in number of page views. So lets say we raise enough $$$ to get 5 million page views with no Yuku ads (still have SixPack ads), there isn't a time limit. Those 5 million page views could run out in 3 months or 3 years.

Unfortunately on Yuku, there isn't a community chest but we have asked Yuku to give us this option for the next 2 months (June 1st - August 1st). Yuku is allowing us to pool all the donations from June 1st - August 1st and then purchase the page views all at once. It's like a 25% discount if we purchase all at one time. So they are kind of doing the community chest behind the scenes for us. You will still contribute and they will apply the money but on August 1st they will give us the 25% adjustment. For example, instead of buying 5 million ad-free page views, we will be able to buy 6.25 million ad-free page views.

We know Yuku is a more expensive option than other message board systems but we have yet to find another board that has the threaded view we like and with your contributions, it also gives you a vested interest in the board. No money you donate will be used for personal use. It all goes towards the renewal of the message board.

Give what you can. If you can't give any, we totally understand. Honestly, if everyone that read gave $5 (I am assuming 3000 people read the board on a consistent basis), we would have more than enough to last us for about 10-15 years. To put it plainly, $5 is like 1/3 of a HD6 combo meal at McDonalds.

Here is the link and we hope you enjoy SixPackSpeak.com. Contributions are accepted online only via Paypal.

And seeing my real name on the contribution and not my user name, you couldn't even figure out that my username was PATdog.</p>

Why the die hard allegiance to thread view?? You know I have always tried to argue for the other style of forum. I personally have never really figured out how to keep track of who is replying to who unless someone posts the quote to whom they are replying to in their post. PhpBB is an AWESOME forum and is the most user friendly and most easily modified forum out there. Please just give it another look and see all the possibilities available. PHPBB FORUMS

Thanks alot!!!!

BDJ.com's message board is unbearable.

"I personally have never really figured out how to keep track of who is replying to who unless someone posts the quote to whom they are replying to in their post."

But many of us can, and if you go away from thread view, you take that away.

and if you take away threaded view, it would probably kill the "how to reply" image

How in the same hell you can tell who's writing what to who...sure the post titles are threaded, but go read the contents and it makes no sense. Its one big chronologically ordered list of posts. It looses all threading at that point.

if someone has a post right under another post, they are responding to that poster. You have to get in and out of the thread to do it, but why take that feature away. It doesn't make the board any better if you take it away.

you can't tell. That's why I treat any reply as a mini thread of sort. If there are replies to a reply, I click on the initial reply if that makes any sense.

For example, I would click on Stansfield's post to read all the replies to his post.

when you don't get in an out of the thread. Regardless, why take that away..its not helping the board.

Say Stansfield had made some post about some MSU sport. Anyone trying to reply to him that couldn't figure out how to do it properly... well, that's probably an opinion we can do without. As a bonus, we all get to see it floating out of place and make fun of them.

then I back out so I can see what all is going on. I figured everyone did something like that.

I do something similar. I used tabbed browsing and flip in and out of the tabs. One on the main page and one on the topic I'm reading. Not necessarily the best way or what not, but it allows me to view the responses without having to constantly move back and forth in one browser for the information. (Or I might use multiple windows, but essentially the same thing)

Am I the only one that knows the thread view is displayed at the bottom of the page once inside a thread?

What I usually do is to make two windows. I read the thread on one window and look at the threaded view in the other window. It is alot easier then backing in and out of the thread. Without doing that, backing in and out, or having two windows open, it is next to impossible to tell who is replying to who. Of course it's not rocket science and not that big of a deal. It's really fine the way it is. We're not solving the cure for cancer or world peace. I am just making a suggestion. I am used to phpBB style forums. I guess it really does come down to "what you are raised on."

But, I pretty much value everyone on that boards opinion, so it doesn't bother me to open a thread with 20 replies to see what was said.

The "mobile" version of this site defaults to topic view. No way to get threaded view. It pisses me off to no end to open a thread that is 6 replies from some ******** I don't care to read anyway.

That's the problem. I can typically tell the value of a thread on Sixpack by the names of the posters that are responding to it.

I guess I am just too lazy for threaded view. Does Yuku allow both? I know in phpBB each user can choose their own template to view the forum in. Maybe Yuku offers a way for each user to choose whether they want to view the forum in thread or topic view.

and I am glad they don't allow the user to choose because you would have even more messed up threads for those that like threaded view. Replies would be completely out of order.
