Talking about his nicknames here are a few I remember.......

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"LSU's Best Friend" Reginald Boykin.</span> So named after hitting free throws at the end of games 2 years in a row to beat the Tigers.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"Top Gun" Tony Watts</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Cameron "Smoke" Burns</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Robert " The Horse " Woodward</span>, inside joke, the guy was WELLLL endowed.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"Downtown" Todd Merritt</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"The Mighty Dawg" Chuck Evans</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Horatio "The Big Train" Webster</span>, "ALL ABOARD..... The BIG TRAIN.....

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"Known as the Sheriff around these parts" Russ- Sell Walll-TERS</span> <br style="font-weight: bold;">
<span style="font-weight: bold;">"Super D" Daryl Wilson</span>

And two great intros he gave to opposing players........

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"Pretty Boy" Joe Harvell</span> from Ole Miss, after somebody on State's team said Harvell was the ugliest man he had ever seen.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">"The Man Child"</span> <em style="font-weight: bold;">Shaquille O[/i]<span style="font-weight: bold;">'</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Neal</span>, Shaq's first game as a 17 year old freshman at the Hump

Hilarious man. Had him for Small Group Communications - which I guess is ironic since he was our PA guy.

I always enjoyed his BET late night recaps about the girls shaking their asses and "dropping like it's hot". I think his greatest nugget of wisdom was urging the guys in the class to wear dark slacks when they got jobs. His logic was that dark slacks hid piss dribble better than khaki. And nobody wants to walk around with piss on their pants. I have to agree.

He should write a book...

if he didn't like you. He gave everyone ****. Even after I graduated and came back for functions when Dr. Forde took over, Flick would still give me at least one zinger when he saw me.

I hate his tenure as an announcer is over but at least he is still teaching. Definitely one of my favorite instructors and I still use some of the stuff I learned in his class.

When I took Flick's class in the mid 70's, right after he started teaching, he was really big into Memphis R&B like Sam & Dave and Wilson Pickett. His big line back then when we made a good speech was to jump up, throw his fist in the air and yell, "Shotgun! Shoot him when he runs!".

He lived in some cheesy apartments on 25 south near Academy Rd. and we were told we were welcome to call or come by and ask questions or get help with assignments any time EXCEPT from 12 to 1 on Saturdays because he would be watching Mid South Wrestling from Memphis and was NOT to be disturbed during that time.

I haven't been allowed on Gene's Page in years. I'm the former GrenadaDog. And was FloraDog before that. I know, I need to stay in one damn place.

I always thought he was a first class jerk, and I am not even from Rankin County. Regardless, I don't really care about the guy's personality; I care about his voice. And it sucked. Just another quality job by Greg Byrne -- giving us one less reason for people to laugh at us.

Never met him, glad he can make a living, not being the MSU announcer,.... but it's past time for him to be gone.

Thanks again Greg!

while most of you are laughing it up, remember that most, if not all of you, were born in and probably still live in the state of Mississippi, which means you're pretty much the *** end of the joke too.

that being said, I couldn't stand flick's little, gay, crackling voice to begin with... I'm glad he's gone and it's well overdue. you're a good man flick, 17 off.

I offended a few closed-minded folks in the classwhile trying to hang with the good Dr.'s jocularity. Strap in... Here it comes.

----------------------
During my introductory speech, I informed the "audience" that my girlfriend (now wife) was at MUW on Minority Scholarship...

She was Heterosexual, and Non-Obese!

(RIMSHOT)
----------------------

It bombed, but Flick chuckled, for he loved a good MUW joke (or so I thought).

was Dr. Flick's classes. Great Professor! The first class I had under him, I wore one of those Nike swoop caps. From that day on, when he called roll, I was "Cheap-Assed Hat".

you're going to bother me talking about Neshoba County. I live there but I'm not "from" there so I am as likely to agree with you as not. Fact is from what I'v seen over the 20 years I lived in MS, most counties are in a neck and neck race for suckitude. Including Neshoba County. For Crying out loud-people here pay more for ramshackle huts made of second-hand lumber to spend a week partying and banging there cousins and best friends wives than they do for their double wide trailers.

I will never forget playing the Pirates in baseball. We only played them a few times but this thread sheds a lot of light on the experience. One game in Starkville, they stood on the first step of Starkville's dugouts, in their vomit colored uniforms, and yelled obscenities that would make Tanner Boyle proud. A year or so later, we met again and a fight nearly broke out after their base runner ran at least a yard to the inside of the base line and over me at 1st in an attempt to shield a throw to 1st on a SAC bunt.

18 years later, a redneck I cross paths with often wears Bama garb every day....seemingly. So, I finally ask him about it as that is rare in R-kansas. Long story short......he is from Pearl, MS.

On Flick, I liked him. I liked the uniqueness of his voice. You go to Bama, AU, OM, wherever all the PA guys sound the same. I thought he did a good job of giving information too. As for the scores from around the nation, I doubt it was Flick's fault those were hours old. </p>

I had him back in the late 90s when Quincy's closed down - he would blame the demise on the W girls coming over and eating the big fat yeast rolls. He also used the piss dribble line.

Seriously, his Interviewing class was the absolute #1 without a doubt best class I took at MSU. I have never been nervous or even anxious about a job interview because of that son of a *****. He gave me hell in the interview.</p>
