The NCAA wanted no part of this, so this was predictable. Skal is a Haitian earthquake survivor who got out of that country the only way he knew how, and by all indications he's a solid student. Unless Gerald Hamilton is a registered agent, or unless there was video evidence of him being handed a briefcase full of cash by an agent, it would have looked incredibly petty and vindictive for the NCAA to stop Skal from playing. They can be petty and vindictive, as we all know, but it would have been very, very hard to justify in this specific case.

I agree that the Haitian earthquake survivor angle made it hard for the NCAA to go after this. What are they going to do for an encore, punch babies?

At least one poster openly mocked this logic. I'm sure we will see him soon...halftime of the first game we trail.

Ready for Duke now. Wasn't so much looking forward to it if Skal wasn't going to be able to play.

UL fans already losing it over this. Still doing things 'the right way'. Good guys win another one.

We are going to absolutely wipe the floor with them come December. They may not make the tournament and that's without a postseason ban. Hopefully they don't make the tournament and then the NCAA gives them a 2 year postseason ban. Would be beautiful!

But how much you bet if it looks like they aren't going to make the tournament they will try to save face by self-imposing a postseason ban. I could see a despicable program like UL trying to do something like this.

Yes. He's now the one I'm wondering about with Skal being cleared.
Congrats on the great news with Skal. November 17th is more interesting with him playing.

We just got our(arguably) best player eligible! Murray could be our best, but... HEY...Brisco and Ulis could rally the troops if our best 2 guard went down, but I really felt Lab was our most indispensable player this year. Whoop, Whoop, Whoop it up!

So you are 100% sure Cal only took Humphries because he was worried Skal might not be cleared? Do you have a link to that?
First things first, Cal was never worried, he always said "we're fine, he'll be cleared" so where are you getting that Cal was worried? Your whole argument is flawed. There was never anything wrong here. Sandy Bell and her team looked at the facts and told Cal he'd be fine. So why not sign the kid at that point? You have a valid point on the Enes Kanter situation but the Skal situation is nowhere near the same.

If you read most of the reports and interviews Hamilton and his wife both had said they had done nothing wrong. The one big question was the Hamilton question to Easterwood when he asked How he could profit off a player. In all reports including the Easterwood interview Hamilton never said Skal Labissiere's name and there was never mentioned on how much money. There was No money trail found on Hamilton to Labissiere and family.

@kyups01 has always been pessimistic in nature. You will find these types of quotes from him many times over.


However, the guy has been grade A on the football board this season calling out the unrealistic douchebags.

I let this one slide in homage to his good deeds for CMS and the team.
