Keep your eye on the Skyhawks in 5C this year... new QB (former Huguenot/Manchester) Jason Wright, new RB (former Manchester) Corey Holland and a new HC in Matt Bland.
Between Herm, Bird, Mataoca, Louisa and Fleming.. 5C may be up there with 4B for the toughest region in VA.
OL/DL James Bland from Cosby; RB Amare Bunch from Monacan; and OLB/RB Mike Cherry from Thomas Dale too...

Earlier this offseason I thought Matoaca then Bird but now I've flipped. Matoaca got a lot back from last season but QB position is unsettled and unclear. Bird might have a leg up.
Having a few of the coaches back is cool and all but what's really going to push them over the top is bringing back the well documented welcoming of players from other programs....
Every school in RVA metro with state championship aspirations has transfers. Varina, Highland Springs, Manchester, Huguenot, Dinwiddie, etc..
I don’t like Bird for some personal reasons but I do think a lot of Bland, Nicely and the rest of the guys that was on Bedwell’s staff. Bird, HS and Huguenot are probably the most complete teams in this area.

but in all seriousness I'll C5 football around the state should be fun anyone heard on SB and what they my look like in this new eraMaury will be very very good but I think Bird or Matoaca will give them a good game. Bird’s QB and RB tandem played together at Manchester and will be as good as anyone Maury sees all year.Watch out Maury.................really
The defense for Stone Bridge should be vey solid with a lot of playmakers. Offensively, they will need to find a QB or that will handicap them. Of course, for the first time in school history, a new coaching staff takes the helm. On a side note, their early schedule is brutal, again. (Madison, Dunbar, Woodgrove, Quince Orchard, Good Counsel). Dunbar last loss a game in 2019.
I suspect they will keep some elements of the single wing but will have a more traditional look from power with 2 tight ends. It’s hard to throw everything out the window but also you have to coach based on what you feel will work as a HC . Of course the skill set of the personnel will drive a lot of the play-calling. The defense will need to be epic for SB to get back to the state title game again, IMO.
