Alleghany at Mount Airy

Alleghany has a hard time vs speed and that's what MA has.. Alleghany's only chance is to keep the ball in long spurts and bore MA to sleep. If not the run game for MA will have a good night. Gonna be intresting to see big #43 run vs MA, he gave us fits.

Surry Central at East Surry

SC's defense is better but their offense still isn't there yet. It's gonna take a perfect effort and then some to even come close to East this year for anyone in the area. Not today.

North Stokes at West Stokes

First time in a long time this matchup means something.. it just shows how Football can work sometimes. While I shouldn't say West should take North lightly the talent pendulum is way on West's side here.. if they don't win by more than 20 points there is something seriously wrong. The pressure's on West especially Upchurch to fix the issues in a hurry as they have had 2 weeks to rest. N Stokes meanwhile has nothing to lose, if they don't do well here there's always next week vs Patrick to get another win.

South Stokes at McMichael

Diamond Dave's working his magic as Walnut Cove's the most hyped they have been in years as South's 2-1. Tonight they take the county wide trek to Mayodan to play a down and out McMichael squad who badly needs a life vest, or a life boat. McMichael's had a very rough season so far, scoring only 16 points in 3 games vs some solid teams.. a lot of it's their fault as their schedule is way too tough, but needless to say tonight's more than likely their last shot at a win. As a result I see them being hyped and ready to play, while I'm going with South I wouldn't be suprised if McMichael makes it a thriller.. they have a mountain on their shoulders.

Starmount at Forbush

Could be another barn burner down in the Yadkin area as these two will be fighting for the county title tonight. Forbush has turned the tide lately after
losing for ages to the Rams, however Starmount's a little more experienced and has a better senior class than the 'Bush. This game will be won by the trenches and
the bare fundamentals.. I just think Starmount's a little better this year. Next couple of years may be the 'Bush's playground.

WS Prep at East Wilkes

The Pheonix finally have their shot at a statement win tonight as they head to Ronda to play EW. EW meanwhile badly needs a win here as it will help them rebound and stay on the path for a playoff spot. This game will be their test to handle the speed that Central will have in conference play, while Prep's out to prove if they can take a pounding similar to what they will get from the Northwest schools as that will help depend the course of their season. I think right now this is
a total tossup.

WSP has some of the fastest kids I've seen in a while, that Lyons kid is a beast, and if East don't keep track of the ball I see it being a runaway. But if East is hyped and doesn't turn it over like they did vs Walkertown last year they will have a shot and may dominate the game.

Wilkes Central at Watauga

Watauga's a lot younger and not as stout as in years past, but they are still very solid. WC meanwhile is fightning everyone really hard despite their low depth they
have a good chemistry which was what last year's team didn't have. I see Morrison giving Watauga fits but Watauga has too many horses to lose. In a couple of years this
game could be a real thriller. Time for Central to rest and prep for conference, where they can make a serious run.

North Wilkes at Avery

The Vikings are on the good end of my prediction spectrum, but they face their hardest test tonight in Avery who are quite big and quite good on offense. Ashe
had a real hard time with them in the 2nd half and so did West Wilkes.. however North Wilkes has what those 2 don't have which is size and numbers. NW's never beaten
Avery especially in Chipman's run and they are prown to choke it away to them, but I think this could be the year they finally knock them off.

Ashe at West Caldwell

Ashe is having a eclectic year. Despite their record they played 2 out of the 3 teams very hard, but are young and trying to make up for low depth. The returning kids are gaining experience and are looking better. They finally have their winnable game this week vs a down and out West Caldwell team for their endowment game. West is a mess on varsity, only scoring 28 points and giving up 50 a game with not many kids. They play very hard they just aren't very good. JV they are.. could be interesting if they move a few up for tonight. I think Ashe's older kids are a lot better and it will be how it goes.

Morehead at Atkins

Atkins is at home again this week after getting flat out lucky vs Chatham Central last week in double OT. This week won't be so good as they face a very physical Morehead squad. Morehead's had a tougher schedule vs better teams and will be looking to get off some steam vs Atkins.. Atkins has a hard time vs physical teams as West Iredell just pounded them all night, expect that to continue here. May be closer than the WI game was though

Glenn at North Forsyth

NF's off a bye week after 2 humiliating losses. North Wilkes outhit them on both sides and Reagan just decimated them. This week it won't get any easier as Glenn heads over for NF's home opener. Glenn may be 1-2 but they lost both in close games and could easily be 3-0.. NF's their easiest team on the schedule and standing right in their way. Baring a surprisingly close matchup I see Glenn having a good night. NF's depth just isn't good at all as they have a lot of kids going on both sides and it's showing early. Next week may be closer but not this week.

Slash we don't give 43 the ball enough in my opinion. He is our best running back by far but lately has been at fullback mainly blocking for 20. #43 kept us in the game last year vs ashe. My favorite lineup is 44 at fullback and 43 at tailback but I've only scene that when #20 needs a blow.

North Wilkes and Avery could be a fun game. Starmount and Forbush is going to be a slugfest I think. If Prep's athletes are as good as you say, East Wilkes might not have a chance.

I agree with that.. #43's my kind of back. I loved how he loves to hit.. if I ever get to coach I hope I'd have a kid like him. If he gets the RB spot I see the MVAC teams minus the top 2 or 3 having a hard time with him. Him and yall's QB would be a good pair.

Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad lol.

I really wanted to go to East and Prep but I'm exhausted after a tough work week so I stayed in.. shame it sounds like a doozy. Disappointed with NW.. figured they'd play harder.

Starmount's took off like I figured. See Forbush doing better in the 2nd half.

I'm a little off right now for sure. Avery has been quite the surprise and North looks like a pretender. I wanted to catch a game but like you had an exhausting week. Forbush Starmount game isn't over by any means yet. 2nd half in Ronda will be interesting. See who can get a big defensive stop.

. Only thing about 43 is he plays defense too so he gets tired. If he could just strictly play running back he would be really good. Unfortunately this year we don't have the best line....our entire line graduated from last season

NW musta played Avery like they did Atkins, Chipman said they seemed un-intrested. NW's never played Avery great since he's been there.

HUGE win for Prep.. they don't have that good of an defense but their offense can go. Them vs a lot of the northwest teams will be fun as hell to watch.

That's ultimately will be what probably stops them from being truly great.. they don't have the love for the game for it like a good squad does.

I have South in 3rd right now due to Dave. Prep has better overall talent but South's always been their kryptonite. I'll never forget 2 years ago they threw for over 400 yards vs South and still couldn't beat them they ball controlled them to death. That being said that DE they have now is pretty good, he might be what the D needs to stop them. North Stokes may hang with them but I don't see it, Bishop definitely not. They will be lucky to win just 1 sadly the way they have been playing.
