Per David Murray on the Scout site.

Ammo has been playing well so I'm not tremendously worried, but what if something happens to him? Do we burn someone's redshirt or put Renfroe at catcher?

I really hate that for Mitch. And you're right, Ammo has been playing well. I would imagine Randolph will be our back up. No sense in putting Renfroe back there and no need to burn Garner's redshirt.

You make a good point about feeling sorry for Mitch. He just got back from a weird throat problem, and then he gets hurt on a HBP a little over a week later. I'm sure this is killing him.

He's always seemed to be a much better player than his numbers show.

He's a solid catcher. I've always been impressed with how he has handled our pitchers.

Agree. If he was out for the season, then you burn the redshirt. But out for 3 weeks, no way. Glad to hear he'll be back. We should be fine with just Ammirati back there for a while.

Randolph is a catch and throw guy. I think he is ready defensively, but offensively, I woudn't expect much. And by ready, I mean adequate. He is a walk-on. I'd say he is similar to Scott DeLoach.

Garner struggled in the fall and spring. He still has a high ceiling, but he needs to develop a little bit.
