Tied for 2nd fastess...

[h=5]Mike Mayock to me last week: "I put the tape on to watch Banks .. and my eye kept going to the other kid." That "other kid" is really fast.[/h]

Slay is officially the fastest DB at the combine with the laser times released with a 4.36

What happened to the time of the db that ran the unofficial 4.25? Steve Williams I think.

That was a hand-timed estimate -- as were all the other numbers they actually give you while they guys are running.

With the laser timing, Slay was fastest DB there.

They screwed up his official time. The NFL Simocast shows him beat Slay by a stride or so. Eison and Mayock said something must have gotten messed up in his official time.

I would not take that bet.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock, on Darius Slay: "Those numbersare going to guarantee that all 32 teams get knee deep in his tape thisweek."<o:p></o:p>

That's awesome. Good for him. It's good for the entire program too.

Every team in the NFL that is semi interested in drafting a CB will have scouts at our proday now. You get twice as much bang for the buck. Who knows, maybe we'll they're on campus Josh Boyd catches their eye or Gabe Jackson for next year, etc.

Being fast doesn't make you a returner...

I don't know what he did in high school but being fast doesn't make you a ball carrier all by itself.

He was first team all state in HS as a kick returner. He also returned punts and kicks in JUCO.

He was a tremendous returner in JUCO. And what does being a returner have to do with playing the position for us. Perkins is nowhere close to being a good returner but we keep trotting him out there.

If Slay is returning either punts or kicks in the NFL, is Mullen the dumbest 17ing ST coach in the history of college football?

I agree. Perkins seemed to slow down or stop when he was going to get hit on kick-offs.
