Alabama's two most prominent athletics officials weren't reticent on how Slive and the SEC have dealt with the recent spate of issues.</p>

"I think the commissioner has handled this very well, and I think Rogers Redding does an outstanding job in handling the officials in this conference," athletic director Mal Moore said. "It's a very competitive conference, and I think the officials do an outstanding job.</p>

"I feel very strongly that we have a great organization that supports officials and a strong commissioner that leads this conference."</p>

Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban, also an outspoken advocate of SEC officials, agreed.</p>

"I think Mike has done a wonderful job," Saban said. "This league is thriving, not only from an exposure standpoint … of what the league is all about, what it stands for and what's been accomplished, but also financially and every other way."</p>

</p>

I wonder why?

Mal: Hey, Nick. How'd you like that comment I made about Redding doing an outstanding job of 'handling the officials'?

Nick: Ha. Yeah, good one. I also liked, "I think the commissioner has handled this very well", without a hint of sarcasm... Classic!

Mal: And then you hit them with "I think Mike has done a wonderful job." Perfect. I was dying over here!

Well, the Bammers haven't had a game changing call go against them! I would bet the house that Saban would go apeshit if they were to get screwed like everyone else is doing. Let's hope we get the benefit of the zebras this weekend when the game is on the line (wishful thinking) and see how the love triangle down in Tuscaloosa thinks about it then.

from the article -- "We have hardworking, honest, dedicated and loyal officials who want nothing but the very best for the Southeastern Conference."

And there you have it, just like we've been saying, you've got officials seemingly making calls that are "best" for the conference rather than making the right calls based on what is happening on the field. Heck, just make the correct call as best possible and let the chips fall where they may. We don't need officials who are concerned about what's best for the SEC or even concerned about that, we need officials who just want to get the call right. Officials defaulting to aiding the perceived better teams win in this league is why teams like MSU keep getting the shaft on any and every close call.

Not the only issue, but the most important.

When Lee got the crossing the line call against Houston, the replay ref must have been out on a coffe break.

"My job is to try to keep some perspective, <span style="font-weight: bold;">to work for the best interest of the conference, at least <span style="text-decoration: underline;">as I see it. I've done that for eight years, and I'll do that as long as I'm here.</span></span>"

Ladies and Gentlemen, proof positive the SEC always has and always will protect the big boys. When in doubt, follow the money. And the big money is in the SEC having 2 undefeateds, a BCS title contender, and a second BCS bowl team every season.
Kinda reminds me of this:

you're a moron. usually the first people to raise crap about that sort of thing IS ANYBODY AFFLICTED POORLY ABOUT IT. you're a whiner, people across the universe whine, the only difference about how you go about it is to seemingly block it off by deflecting what you're doing onto someone else. you have a complete lack of forethought which has graced half of the human race, but apparently not your half. i can always tell a small minded person by their ability to make the whole world seem against them when the reality, most people just don't care about what you have to say or think. being a liberal, i couldn't care less what slive has to say. i bring this up because people really don't look at it and say "well, i'm a liberal so its my most likely reaction to feel bad for slive."

Aren't you that Southern Miss fan that keeps getting on our awesome message board taking up for your piece of **** school? The C-USA officials don't protect their big-money teams because they don't have any big-money teams. So i guess in that sense you have nothing to ***** about.

my point was mainly that there are people that like to tie everything in to politics. some things are just apolitical and some people can't accept that. and no i go to state.

Way to try to be cool after you clearly made a complete fool of yourself on a message board that thousands (ds?) of people read every day.

I think Slive took PR courses from Larry Templeton and Pete Boone. He has not handled this year well at all publicly.

Throughout history, we have had figures in sports that everyone figured were beyond reproach -- at least certainly more so than SEC officials. And later we found out that they were on the take. Now, if he has conducted investigations, etc. to establish this fact, then bravo for him. But, I bet he is just in "defend these low paid dedicated employees" mode.

Second, this commentary on how great the officials are doing from the Bama turds: You know what? If you can't jump their *** for bad calls, you shouldn't be able to pander to them, either. You should not be permitted commentary.

And finally, boo freakin' hoo, Slive. I don't necessarily think that he does a bad job for the conference. But, this whole bad call crap going on deserves, at a minimum, some commentary from him about how he is looking for ways to improve officiating, including top of the line equipment, training for refs, and constant efforts to employ the best refs in the nation, which might require some hiring and firing on a short term basis.
