Absolutely but you can go back to the offseason and find it. They have been the hype train all year long imo.I mean you beat CPC you get to toot the hype train horn a bit, imo.

1000%... Go to state year prior, return what they have, the coal engine gets loaded automatically. I don't mind that...Absolutely but you can go back to the offseason and find it. They have been the hype train all year long imo.
Stockton does look good! It just wouldn't surprise me if Forreston played spoiler this week.Knew we'd get a bite! I don't disagree sir. I'll just say that. But Stockton seems primed for a run, do they not?
Also, made that comment knowing Massey had Stockton by 2 scores.
Tuscola @ Heyworth is going to be a dog fight. Warrensburg is a good team, could see some success in 2A south. Also looking to watch the Pana @ Carlinville score this week. Both will be 2A south as well.Jokes in the past now... It's put up or shut up week for Calhoun against BC in the WIVC regular season final chapter... Let's discuss!
Also, Forreston are pretenders, right? We don't have to worry about any shenanigans against Stockton?
I didn't get to catch EPG against WL... I was at Chatham for QND/Glenwood... I'll refrain from expanding on that mess. lol
But my bro-in-law said EPG was pretty darn good. He didn't say much else other than 24-0 was best case scenario for WL.
Other big matchups worth noting that I've seen...
Tuscola @ Heyworth
Sullivan @ Villa Grove
THE Sangamo GOTY - Maroa @ Billville
I'll note St. Teresa @ St. Bede... could be interesting but I'll presume Bede by a lot having not seen the Massey projection or St. Bede on film this season.
Freeburg @ Red Bud
Frankfort @ Sparta
Astoria @ Abingdon
Fisher @ ALAH - Saturday
Pawnee @ South Fork - Saturday
CPC folks usually pretty humble and quiet. I cannot say the same for BC. Based off the experience of this year.1000%... Go to state year prior, return what they have, the coal engine gets loaded automatically. I don't mind that...
BC folk just louder than their west central state friends in Camp Point![]()
I've seen Warrensburg twice this season. One of those was against Clinton right before they pulled the plug on varsity, so tough to gauge that one. But they definitely have a talented roster, just inconsistent to this point from what I've seen. They have a nice passing game when they get going and it sets up their run game well when working.Tuscola @ Heyworth is going to be a dog fight. Oh we are in agreeance there! I remember BC fans when they'd play QND in basketball... fun times!CPC folks usually pretty humble and quiet. I cannot say the same for BC. Based off the experience of this year.
I could be wrong but Heyworth is on a different level than Tuscola...Tuscola @ Heyworth is going to be a dog fight. Warrensburg is a good team, could see some success in 2A south. Also looking to watch the Pana @ Carlinville score this week. Both will be 2A south as well.
Hardin, Greenfield and CPC have always had hard-nosed linemen... I don't think that will change anytime soon... DON'T go and see QND Roamin!!!Oh we are in agreeance there! I remember BC fans when they'd play QND in basketball... fun times!
I'm excited to keep an eye on Calhoun/BC this week. Calhoun better have some strong boys up front... BC's line was pretty impressive when I saw them vs CPC. Not necessarily the biggest, but they block really really well. I haven't seen Calhoun, I have some time tomorrow night if I can find a game or two that's been taped on the sites I stream on.
I've contemplated making the trip to see Calhoun/BC more than once now. There's just some good games over my way this week I'm leaning towards at the moment. Or, I'll end up sticking to the original plan, go home and see QND get pummeled by Rochester.![]()
I know... just setting myself up to get annoyed, leave at half, and eat my sorrows away at the tailgate while streaming all the games I should have gone to instead. As a QND fan, it wouldn't be the first time we've done that.Hardin, Greenfield and CPC have always had hard-nosed linemen... I don't think that will change anytime soon... DON'T go and see QND Roamin!!!
HSRating has Calhoun 35-28. I don’t see it getting that high. I won’t lie. I haven’t been overly impressed with BCs linemen this year. I think their skill has hidden things.I know... just setting myself up to get annoyed, leave at half, and eat my sorrows away at the tailgate while streaming all the games I should have gone to instead. As a QND fan, it wouldn't be the first time we've done that. The bigger concern, as always when we go 4A... is how soon will we potentially see Rochester again after week 9... it'll likely, as it has in the past, be in the 2nd round, or 1st round this year, or whatever we're calling the 2nd date of games in this version of the playoffs.
I know Calhoun is always tough... I've seen them before. I'm just saying BC ain't no pansies this year... they aren't pretending to be good. They are very good.
I was going to wait until Thursday, but couldn't...
Massey has Calhoun 31-28. Interesting indeed! This game, if in college, would be a gambler's delight!
I haven't seen either team this year, but my cousin is the JV basketball coach at Heyworth and said they have some dudes. That being said, Tuscola always comes to play and are well coached, but I do think Heyworth gets it done.I could be wrong but Heyworth is on a different level than Tuscola...
Agree with you there, inconsistent for sure but could get hot. I think as open as 2A south will be, I also think it's the most interesting bracket - it's anyone's to take (for the most part). I'd like to see Central A&M and Pana both go on a run. Going to be a lot tougher for A&M though.I've seen Warrensburg twice this season. To your point, Pana has a real shot at making a run, imo, this year given that bracket. Defense come week 10 and beyond becomes crucial, and Pana have a defesne. The offense struggles at times it would seem. Might bite them this time of year but that defense hasn't let anyone push them around. Sticking in the South Central I'm very excited to see if Hillsboro can maintain the momentum coming into the playoffs. However, their defense has struggled against quality opponents so we shall see.Agree with you there, inconsistent for sure but could get hot. I would hope no one is going to count Nashville out in the south. They especially shouldn't this year as open as 2A is down there. Good to hear they're catching stride. We've seen Nashville shine this time of year before... The Hornets fans are always knowledgeable football folk too, blue collar mindset, like many others, and they wear that on their jersey's for 4 quarters.Nashville looks to be finding it again to end the year. Just got their top bowling ball running back from injury as well. My preseason 2A south favorite coming into the year and are starting to finally look the part the last couple weeks.
I try to keep up with Calhoun... We had a small history with them and I like Rick Johns back in the day... BC didn't impress me in the Calhoun game last season... Calhoun has had to stew for a year with that nightmare... BC may have grown up with last seasons run so I anticipate a good game. I don't see this game going sideways for anyone unless the yellow flag of death haunts one team or the pigskin is on the grass too much. Since its house money... Calhoun -7 Both have good defenses. Calhoun dominated Greenfield who lost to CPC on a last sec FG.... BC beat CPC by 3, who escaped Greenfield. Hard to read everything... Calhoun/Greenfield is a rivalry game... BC has beaten CPC the last two games.... Unfortunately BC and Hardin will meet again soon unless the state pulls their heads out of their asses and seed 1-32!I know... just setting myself up to get annoyed, leave at half, and eat my sorrows away at the tailgate while streaming all the games I should have gone to instead. Tuscola back in the late 80s and 90s had steamroller lineman every year... But as with all small schools, farming dies out and towns decline... Tuscola is tough but Heyworth right now is the steamroller... They just have to stay within themselves and be perfect one play at a time...I haven't seen either team this year, but my cousin is the JV basketball coach at Heyworth and said they have some dudes. That being said, Tuscola always comes to play and are well coached, but I do think Heyworth gets it done.
Without diving too much into the similarities or differences I would have to side with Soucie based on historical accuracy. In years past he's got all but one or 2 schools correct on which class they would be in and even gone over 90%, I believe, on getting the exact matchups right. What do we think of Soucie’s projection compared to the NUICs? Some similarities also differences. Let’s discuss.
I like Soucie for the projected cutline especially early on. But when it comes to getting the match ups downs NUIC has been PRETTY spot on over the course of time I’ve seenWithout diving too much into the similarities or differences I would have to side with Soucie based on historical accuracy. If you're like me and have no life I encourage you to watch him online this Friday night where he'll update his brackets in real time as games are ending. He's usually going strong into the wee hours of the morning.
Current HSRatings Projection is Tuscola 31-30Soucie has Heyworth beating Tuscola to be the 1 Seed in the North. 2nd Round Match up of Stockton vs a Lena/Forreston winner in round 2 would leave just one of the Big 3 in the NUIC in the quarterfinals although a solid Galena squad would be in other half of the north.
NUIC football has Heyworth losing to Tuscola and that leaves the chance of a 4 team all NUIC quartrfinal in the north.
Now THAT would be really cool to seeand that leaves the chance of a 4 team all NUIC quartrfinal in the north.
I hear ya, but Greenfield is the one decent opponent Calhoun has faced, having avoided CPC in the regular season. They only mustered 14 pts while averaging 57ppg against the rest their schedule to that point and since. I understand there's a rivalry, and Greenfield is solid, but something should be questioned about the offense if 14-3 is how that went. Of course, Maroa goes north and still gets to stroll without breaking sweat into the quarterfinals. Life is just that good in Maroa... sheesh...Soucie’s class 2A Projections!
If you look at the stats of that GNW game. Calhoun dominated lol. They had 426 yards and depending where you look held GNW to 84-96 yards of offense. They just didn’t convert. You gotta think that’s more of a blip on the radar than not.I hear ya, but Greenfield is the one decent opponent Calhoun has faced, having avoided CPC in the regular season. I agree, this one seems tough to gauge until it's played. But I think I'm holding firm with my BC pick. probably by a score or less also.
I did watch the North Greene tape yesterday for Calhoun. Didn't change my pick though. But 1Afg is right, they do appear to be very good. Just tough to tell how good when they're boat racing an (now 0-8) opponent to a 56-0 rout.![]()
Blip maybe, easy to say when you're raw dogging the rest of your schedule though, right? I'm not arguing, but if you can't finish on GNW, your ONE good opponent on the schedule prior to week 9............ the door is open for speculation is all I'm saying. I don't think that's too outlandish of me to latch on to. Again, I think I said earlier, if this game goes either way I won't be too surprised. I just trust BC to finish the job more at this particular moment. If you look at the stats of that GNW game. Calhoun dominated lol. So what does it say that Calhoun allowed less yards to GNW than CPC and less points. Especially if CPC was able to drop 30 on BC. Remember. CPC was a FG and a 4th and 8 away from losing to GNW. I think your reading to a tad to much into the 0-6 in the redzone. That is my personal opinion.Blip maybe, easy to say when you're raw dogging the rest of your schedule though, right? Not that I am aware ofI just want to confirm what was posted today includes a projected week 9 result, but the records are not updated to reflect the projection. Is that correct?
Also, I know this is 1A-4A ... are the larger school projections available anywhere that isn't behind a paywall?
You won’t know actually class cut off until week 9 is done and playoff points are taking into consideration for all 8 classes. Also, and sorry if this has been discussed, but you have a potential situation at the 2A/3A cutoff line. Current 2A largest school is Oregon at 409. Just below that, there are 4 schools with an enrollment of 406 and all are qualifying teams (Vandalia, Newton, Beardstown, and Stillman Valley).
If the cutoff drops by more than one spot after week 9, does anyone know definitively how this jam up gets resolved? I believe I heard Soucie say there is a rolling of the peas at the IHSA office, but he wasn't certain?
Calhoun had 8 red zone chances and failed on 6 of them... Greenfield is no cupcake. Again.. This is a heated rivalry game...I hear ya, but Greenfield is the one decent opponent Calhoun has faced, having avoided CPC in the regular season.
