On the women's side I predict Cherokee wins every conference game by 30+ and win the 2A title. I think Andrews will come in 2nd and has a chance to win some games in the 1A playoff, but it looks like the Little Smoky is arguably the deeper conference and a more interesting conference race. Highlands, Hiwassee Dam and Summit Charter all could be tough outs in 1A.
On the boys' side I'm not sure Rosman wins a game, but I think we see a lot of conference records around .500 from the rest of the league.

'Dogs beat Hiwassee Dam by 36 last night with less than a week's practice under their belts and most of the team not in basketball shape yet.
Murphy is definitely behind the eight ball with conditioning and practice relative to most of the other teams in the conference and will probably have some bumps in the road early as a result, but I think they may be the team to beat in the Big Smoky once they're up to speed, no one else in the league can match their combination of length and talent in the frontcourt.

Robbinsville is the only one that has somewhat similar size, that much is for sure. On paper Robbinsville is probably going to be their biggest competition and both teams are senior heavy.
This group of Murphy seniors went undefeated in middle school in 8th grade and went 18-2 and won the conference tourney on JV as freshman. They did lose AJ Rice and Robert Turner to transfer since then, but the expectation should still be a varsity conference title in my opinion.

Well all those games were played before Robbinsville added the foreigners that have been dunking all over everyone they have played so far.
Murphy isn't Copper Basin, Blue Ridge or Nantahala either... I mean Hiwassee Dam killed Copper Basin and Nantahala too. So until we see both teams against better competition hard to make much of any of that.

It’s hard to read too much into anybody’s results so far. But Murphy definitely came out of the gates better than I expected after football.
I do think Robbinsville’s foreign exchange students will still be tough to deal with once the schedule steps up competition though. One of them played in the U16 AmeriCup earlier this year (and played 18 minutes against a bunch of 5 stars from Team USA).

Robbinsville boys will take longer to gel than other teams because of football plus mixing in the new kids, but I think they have good pieces and could be really tough in the 1A playoff bracket. So was surprised the Cherokee game wasn’t closer and will be interesting to see Braves’ rematch with Murphy. Murphy boys look like a bunch of grown men out there, but I think fast, skilled teams could give them trouble.
Robbinsville is a little banged up right now. Hopefully they’ll get healed up for the playoffs. Im about positive you’re not seeing their best right now. When Louie is healthy it’s a totally different team. Collins will be a big help as well but may still be a few weeks away. Should be a decent race to the finish on the boys side, and the Lady Braves are just that good.
Unfortunately it looks like Collins and Rosado are done for the year, but what a gutsy performance by our boys last night! A must win game that many thought was subject to be a blowout, was quite the opposite. Congrats to Coach B and those young men on a big W!
You hate to hear that. Do you know if Rosado is just doing one exchange year or if the plan is for him to be at Robbinsville the rest of high school?
