Smithfield improved to 2-0 with a 44-14 win over Bruton. The Packers scored the first 44 points before two 4th-quarter touchdowns stopped the running clock,

Senior quarterback Kyle Buggs got the scoring started on the Packers' opening drive. He went 2 for 2 for 36 yards, including a strike in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Minutes later, James Jones sprinted 52 yards on the 1st play of the drive, reaching the end zone for a 14-0 lead. Senior Zyron Wells scored before the end of the 1st quarter to give Smithfield a 21-0 lead.

The Smithfield defense added a touchdown of their own when edge Jonathan Roberts caught a fumble in the air, then rambled 43 yards for a touchdown.

After a field goal, Smithfield added one more score before halftime. A punt return with 14 seconds remaining set up a touchdown pass from Buggs to sophomore Christien Hawkins as the halftime clock ran out. The score ensured a running clock at the start of the second half.

James Jones added his 2nd touchdown early in the 3rd quarter, and the Packers led 44-0. Bruton running back Rumante Todd added two 4th-quarter touchdowns that stopped the running clock.
