I think this week will tell us quite a bit about this year. The Murphy- Franklin matchup could be real interesting or Murphy may win big if Hayesville can play with the Blues it will be a positive sign for their season.I think Robbinsville - Tuscola will provide some insight into the transition of the team under Coach Ford. I think Swain must at least be competitive with SM, if not it may be a long season.

I took a trip up to Western Carolina the past two weeks, I have started to learn a little bit more about the football culture up there. Stop by Smokey Mountain in Sylva and Tuscola in Waynesville. I plan on stopping by Robbinsville next month on my trip to the West.

Murphy - Franklin has been very hard to predict for a decade now. Quite a few of those years I've been convinced one side or the other looks stronger on paper going into the season only for that team to end up losing the game.

Last season Franklin came out of the gates hot starting the year 6-0 and beating a Murphy team that was young and still finding their way. As for this year's game, both teams have a good amount of experience returning and you could make a strong argument that this is the best on paper matchup between these two teams in several years in terms of skill, talent and expectations for both.
