It's the 5 best teams who are conference champions that get autobids, not necessarily the champions of the 5 best conferences.Pretty sure conference champions get an auto bid to the playoffs, so it's impossible for the ACC to get left out entirely as they will always send their champion.
It’s the top five conference champions, not necessarily the Power 4 plus the top Group of 5 team. Duke would be 8-5 if they won the ACC Champ Game, with non conference losses to Illinois (absolute blow out), Tulane and UConn. They would most likely be ranked behind not only the American champion, but the Mountain West and/or Sun Belt champion as well. The ACC could very well be shut out of the playoff completely if Duke wins next week.Pretty sure conference champions get an auto bid to the playoffs, so it's impossible for the ACC to get left out entirely as they will always send their champion.
Yeah, but they are not playing in the ACC title game. They would have to be ranked in the top 10 because the 11 and 12 spots would be taken by the winner of the ACC title game (if it’s Virginia) and the American conference champion.Am I missing something? Isn’t Miami the top rated team from the ACC?
That's my bad. For some reason I thought it was Power 4 champs and highest ranked group of 5 champ got the auto bids. It's the 5 best teams who are conference champions that get autobids, not necessarily the champions of the 5 best conferences.
So if Duke wins and the committee has 2 G5 champions ahead of them, Duke is out.
