We all know the star rating system is flawed. Good evidence of that is Benny Snell, based on the way he has been playing.

3-star, with a 5.5 rating. Other offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Iowa, Miami (OH) and Toledo. It's interesting to note that Darrin Hinshaw is listed as the recruiter for Cincinnati ....

The stars do not measure heart, desire, toughness and determination, it seems to me.

so some of y'all are such bitter angry empty barrels clunking around after a win that you trash the coach over a depth chart that, you know, ain't exactly the law of god that must be followed? what miserable sobs....

seems pretty smart to me to have defenses tire themselves out the first part of the game chasing down 4.3 speed Boom then slam them in the mouth with Snell to seal the game.

And this is another reason why Stoops will remain #1 on the hot seat.

Why in the world does this make any difference? Snell got 16 carries to jojo's 4. Clearly the depth chart isn't indicative of who's getting the ball. If anything it shows that Stoops/gran are going with the hot hand as opposed to where someone is on the depth chart. I don't care where they put anyone on the depth chart as long as whoever is in is productive. That's all that matters.

Why did it take him until the 4th to realize it CC ? This deal of earning a job is bull Stooge

Boom was totally effective for pretty much the entire game. I don't think it was necessarily a bad idea to stay with him and save Snell. Don't get me wrong - I love watching him run the football and would be fine if he basically split reps with Boom. Just don't think it was a poor decision to use him like Gran did. Peace!

Dude carried us last night, I can't believe how great he played as a true freshman. Really look forward to seeing him grow.

When Snell dragged half the gamecocks on the field for 10 yards, it pumped up the OLine like a motherToucher. I like Snell more than any back I've seen at UK since Raphael Little.

Multi-dimensional. Hits hole like a freight train.

Snell is a future star and a legit SEC running back. I doubt the kid cares that much about where he is listed on the depth chart. It's obvious what the coaching staff thinks of his talent level or the kid wouldn't be getting as many carries on the field. It is kind of refreshing to think about how awesome our backfield is. Is it fact that Boom is gone after this season, or is there a small chance the kid could come back for his senior season?

I went to the UK athletics website and clicked on the depth chart for the Alabama game and it did not open. I'm not sure the new depth chart has been posted yet.

Why he hasn't passed JoJo yet is a mystery.

I'm diggin me some Snell.

Depth charts are very often just put out by the SID and aren't really that accurate unless a huge change has been made. Looks like the Cats are going with 3 backs. Snell has been #3 the last few weeks and has gotten plenty of carries. Don't read into it.

I don't pay much attention to the depth chart...coaches can use it for some gamesmanship like an NFL injury report to keep opponents in the dark. I'm sure Bama has noticed Snell.

Still there was no reason for Snell to not get a series in the first 3 quarters ... if just to spell Boom. The notion that they were using him as a 4th quarter "closer" is nonsense...there's no guarantee we would have a lead in the 4th to protect...and if that is what Stoops was doing he's a bigger idiot than we already believe.

Snell is more of a grinder that moves the chains vs Booms home run threat so doesn't that sound more like the offense Stoops wants to see to help the defense get more rest and control the time of possession? I expect us to be down against Bama, but if this kid , Johnson + playaction to Conrad can get us a 1st down or two on every possession maybe it's 28-10 and not a 49-0 shellacking.

JoJo is definitely our 3rd down back for blitz pickup/pass catching. He's a senior but I bet he'd trade playing time for a bowl game and a winning record.

Horton here is your chance...if this game is as lopsided as predicted you will get your carries...show me somethin other than poutin
Horton? What about Harris' big time, all world recruiting replacement King? He was all the rage in the Spring as I recall.

This. Or maybe even back to Artose. Pumped me the same way, not that I count.

Snell's leg motion in the open reminds me of Mark Higgs' like no one I can recall even though he's more power oriented.

When have we had a 220#+ back like this before?

I agree depth charts arne't that big of a deal...especially since it isn't the same as our snap in a game. But I'll say this:

- We need Boom's big play skills to get 15+ touches a game. He scored the first TD on his own.
- Snell has more than shown he's superior to Kemp.

So even a few carries in 1st half for Kemp...I disagree entirely. Those should go to Snell as he'll have plenty of juice in tank for 4th qtr...and if Boom isn't gassed, he needs the ball more than a rested Kemp. You have to get the ball to your best playmakers...Boom/Snell are far and away two of those guys.

I could careless where they have him listed on the depth chart, I just hope they keep getting him the same amount of touches if not more. Depth charts are nice to look at, but once they bullets start flying they don't mean a damn thing.

A depth chart means nothing other than giving the fans something to talk about.

We rotate guys based on the situation and personnel.

I think it's pretty obvious what our RB rotation is. Boom quarters 1-3 with Kemp mixing in. Bring Snell in to grind out yards and close out the game in the 4th. He's absolutely made for it. Snell is also gonna be the goal line back out the wildcat. He will get his 15 touches a game.

I thought our rotation was as close to perfect as you could get.

Honest question. Is there a fanbase in the country that will find more things to ***** about than ours? I have a hard time seeing it.

Snell reminds me of toose, love hard hitting smash mouth running backs. Guys who hit the line with anger and power. The trio is good problem to have, boom home run threat, jojo good blitz pickup and short yardage, snell short yardage and bulldozer mentality.

Who cares what the depth chart says as long as he gets enough meaningful carries on the field.

No disrespect, but depth charts are meaningless and it is somewhat silly to use it for a reason to justify Stoops being on the hot seat. And besides, isn't Gran the OC? I'd have to think the OC, after discussions with the RB coach, would determine the depth chart. Not Stoops.

Seems like some/a lot of those that want Stoops gone are the opposite of sunshine pumpers; they are outhouse pumpers.

I would like to see Snell and King returning KOs. I like Harmon, but thought King looked good early on. Not sure whether he is in the doghouse. Any insights?

Snell is definitely a future star for UK. It will be fun to see him grow as a player. As a true freshman he is playing like a well rounded junior or senior so far. I agree that the depth chart does't matter just as long as he gets touches.

Bringing him in in the red zone and in the fourth Qtr and when he is fresh and the defense is tired makes perfect sense to me. The coaching staff may deserve criticism for other things but not for this.

I should have been more clear. I rushed the post because my daughter just had to watch Big Block on my phone :p but being the head coach, you would have final say no? If the OC handles offense, the DC handles defense, STC does special teams.... what does the head coach actually do? And if what Dawson said holds any weight Stoops likes to micromanage everything.

As far as wanting Stoops gone, I am just tired of watching our guys not be able to line up right, not being able to fill gaps, not being able to put enough guys on the field, etc. I like Mark Stoops from a person stand point and he says the right things most of the time... It is time to start producing though. I realize we just beat SC and I am glad we did, but eventually we have to beat someone other than SC/Vandy.

I hope he does because I am a UK fan, but if we keep losing to every team not named South Carolina and sometimes Vandy... and losing OCC games to Sun Belt teams... He has to go. I want UK to win obviously but I am okay with competitive losses. Losing games by 3+ TDs 3-4 times a year (to a few teams that are average-above average and not great) is a bit too much to let go in year 4.
