I agree. We tailgate, and have for around 15 years. Always fun. It’s not like it’s an every weekend problem to set up, or just go to the games. Six, maybe seven Saturdays out of the year.

On April 20 AD announced staff must pay premium.
On April 30 tickets go on sale. Ticket office calls and asks folks to renew. Staff says no. Understandable to everyone in the world except your dumbass

whoever said staff should show id’s - great idea. However, I think they are trying to sell season ticket not individual games. Staff also buys additional, full price for kids and family. So you’re not just cutting out employees

To ignore the effects of TV on the modern college game is being aggressively stupid.
And to keep it specific to MSU, to ignore the lack of population is being even more aggressively stupid. It's significantly harder for MSU to pull a huge crowd than it is at other SEC schools. Ole Miss even has a 1.3M population metro within an hour.
Day games in the South in September suck asss. We didn't deal with that as much in the old days. This is the effect of TV.
Even more to the point, your brilliant AD raised prices this year too.
All this. I appreciate Selmon. He has done some great things. Also I realize we have a new $22 million payroll expense.
However, raising prices on the general population of State fans that sit in the bleacher seats is going to have the opposite effect than what he thinks. You're going to lose sales because you priced people out.
When we double the BC contribution next year for section 21, I bet the sales are less than this year.
While the faculty always has sold their discounted tickets to big games in order to supplement their income and always will . I’d be willing to bet money that the vast majority of those orange colored seats were sold by our very own ticket office because they’ve done such a poor job selling season tickets that there is a window that unsold season ticket are released for public sale.
People usually don't go and sit in empty seats until the have starts. That section was filled in orange before kick off.
True on baseball but that's a huge difference in price and then you get into the fact that it could be making a profit but some da ad decided to charge pennies for seating no one can get. They go up on cost for seating in a sport we were terrible last year yet keep baseball price way under value. And yes they do sell those tickets too it's just state fans buying them paying for a quarter of their season price for the ticket some games.
We just need to keep winning in football and find a way to chairback to lessen seats. Then when interest grows again close the sez

We also have less fans, and less rich fans, to pay the inflated prices. I don't care where we rank in the SEC, it's still way higher than it used to be.
Reduce capacity at lower levels, chairback, etc. Make the value worth it.
Open up the decks, keep them cheap. Maybe even a GA area with a party deck situation.

I know memories fade but............Game times used to be 1:30 PM most of the time. We would have an occasional night game but 1:30 was common unless we had a double-header in Jackson. I drive 2 1/2 hrs. A little less now that 45 is four-laned. Price increases over the year (especially the seat premiums) moved me from 6 tickets down to 2. We've sat in just about every section. Now in the 100's so the time start is not as much of a factor.
The real problem for us is 4 straight home games. That's just too hard to do when you have 5 hrs of travel, getting to the game early enough to get parked, walk 3/4 mile to the stadium and then wait 45 mins to an hour to get out of the lot. I've tried to change parking lots but the BC says all the lots are full and I walk by closer lots that even Saturday were 3/4 full. These all make for 11-12 hr days. The night games get you home after midnight or later.
There is not an ideal answer to meet everybody's gripes. We love being there on campus. But with all the TV options, travel, long days, and more than 2 consecutive home games, there just ain't a good answer. Winning helps and so does seeing a MUCH improved team and effort.
Anyway, that's my contribution to the bitching session..........

Agree, it was fine on the west and, of course, north ends.
I haven't read through many comments and I know this is probaby oversimplifying it, but I might really consider moving some TV cameras to the east and face them west if I were Zac. Like, before the UT and UGa games. Long term, why wouldn't we want to show off our best side anyway?
Always showing the east side would be like me wanting all photos of me to be taken from below looking up, to make sure and get the fattest view.
This is one of those things many people find impossible to answer truthfully.
It is an example of the old saying in action: they'll climb a tree to tell you a lie when they could stand on the ground and tell the truth.
Telling lies in answer to this question has become an ingrained habit for them, one that dies very hard.
At some level, the truth embarrasses them for whatever reason.
Edited to add: I see a lot of it in this thread even. Long laundry lists of excuses when the simple answer would serve better.
