I’ve learned to never say never with Egg Bowls after 2017 specifically. And I get that this game has been weirdly close for a while both of the last two years.

But Lacy + a competent mobile QB against our corpse of a defense…. seems like an even worse matchup for us than Mizzou was.

And here is what’s just sad …. We all love State … Highs, Lows, Heart-Ache, Going to #1, it’s just what we do … but even in the bad parts of a season, our fans just give up and all hope is gone! We win this next game … ALL the 17ers are singing a different tune, but apparently now there is ZERO HOPE. I don’t get that. Go holler at DAK real quick and tell him we can’t win. Granted different teams, but an MSU Legend mentality. See if he agrees. See if any former player agrees.

We have lost 6 of 7 since a 4-0 start and the last two have not been close, when the perception going into both was that we’d have a chance to at least keep it close and many thought we had a chance to beat Missouri. Collectively we are 2-21 in SEC play since the beginning of 2023. And the only two wins were against bad Arkansas teams.

There is no hope because this program has put its fans through hell the last three years. This isn’t the Mullen era anymore. Heck it’s not even the Leach era. We have given fans nothing to believe in other than the basic “well it’s my team so I’ll hope for the best”.

Buddy I was in attendance for all 3 of the unholy Trinity of Troy State, Maine, and Toledo and have kept coming back for more anyway. Don’t lecture me on hope, it’s all I’ve had for most of my fandom.

But surely you are smart enough to realize why our fans for the majority have zero expectations of us beating this Ole Miss team given what the last 3 years have been, for both us and for them.
