we are down in ticket sales compared to the same date last year? That's the way I read it anyway. Even with disposable income being down, I was a little bit shocked. I figured a new coach would neutralize the economy to some degree. I guess not. But, it's not over yet, I guess.

it is saying that as of the close of business on the 2nd, we have sold only 2000 less tickets that we sold all of last year.

, but...<span style="font-size: 11px;"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">"Through the close of business Thursday, July 2, Mississippi State had sold 35,802 season tickets, less than 2,000 away from the number it sold a year ago." I was hoping that through the above date we are only 2,000 away from the total sold ALL of last year, not just to this date. That's not really what it says, but I just assumed it had to be because everything I've read prior to this was how far ahead we were in ticket sales from last year.

I could be way off though...

But, "from a year ago" = one year ago today.

In substance you might be right. It could be just poor wording. Why not just say compared to the final season ticket sales from last year?

amount sold by the time they played the first game. Which means we have almost two months to break that which will almost certainly be done. Why would they be keeping track of how much they sold last year on different dates, they are just comparing the final number and seeing how close we are to it. You are right it is worded awkwardly.

The economy 17ING SUCKS!!!! It is WAY worse than this time last year. Unemployment is roughly twice as bad as this time last year.

I'm surprised people misunderstood that considering how many times they've said we're way ahead of last year's pace and even stated numerous times that we sold 37,000+ last year. Therefore, since we are over 35,000 now, we are still way ahead. I hope we can sell around 43,000 but I'd also be very surprised if we did.

but I'm pretty sure that Greg Byrne sent out a Thursday update about a month ago that said that season ticket sales were up 300% as compared to that point in time in 2008.

Things may have suddenly changed drastically or I may be dreaming that, but I think we're way ahead of schedule as compared to 2008.

<font color="#660000">FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET SALES OFF TO A GREAT START</font></p>

<font color="#660000">The priority deadline for ordering football season tickets has come and gone, and we are excited about where we stand as of that May 15 deadline. At this point in the sales campaign, we are running approximately 370 percent ahead of the number of season tickets we had sold through the same date in 2008. In fact, as of May 15, we were less than 6,000 season tickets behind where we finished up a year ago just prior to kickoff. Including a minimum expected student ticket sale, we are over 31,000 in football season tickets at this time.</font></p>

<font color="#660000">Of course, season tickets remain on sale. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis at this point, but will still be processed before individual game tickets go on sale (if available) in July.</font></p>

and I know its been mentioned here before, but I just can't get over how much more well-run our administration is as compared to LT. I re-joined the BC on Sunday and bought season tickets, on Monday I had someone contact me with 3 different choices of sections to sit in. I'm nothing special in the donation category, but they make sure and do a good job of making the everyday fan happy.

I just wish Jackie had had this kind of support group...good things ahead for us, thats for sure
