So apparently we almost chased Gundy away from Oklahoma State

If I'm reading this right (okay, I guess Florida State helped, too).
Interesting almost-result from some games that haven't happened yet.
I ask you, dear fans, are these the actions of a self-described "man" of some "forty" years?

His agent floated his interest out for several jobs this year. I thought he was going to get the Tenn job.

I'm glad Dan

Doesn't act that way even though we really have more at risk than Oklahoma State as far as missing out on a bowl game by playing this game. I hope Gundy's attitude about our game trickles down to his players.

I can't imagine how he would be worried about our game after seeing how we performed the 2nd half of last season. I can see how he would be worried over FSU.

Perhaps he saw we underperformed. I'm sure he'd love to face Wilson's defense much more than Collins. We've got practically our whole ol back, 5th year qb, and one of the leaders in the sec in total yards. We (as fans) sell our team short. We'll be very tough game for ok st. I think we're gonna win

Hell, I kinda want to leave the MSU fanbase over this game. Everytime I read a post by an MSU fan or hear one talking about wanting to play a difficult out of conference game, I want to just quit.

1) He obviously thinks more highly of our program than our fans do.
2) He didn't like the tougher OOC games, so he almost went to Tennessee -- where he could replace his Conference slate with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina every year?

He's probably right. He's already got four top 25 games on his schedule (assuming preseason stuff holds true) w/ TCU coming over. He lost a good bit of his staff too i believe.

Let's see if I've got this straight..

..college football coaches constantly preach courage, perseverance, overcoming adversity, meeting difficult challenges head on & "No matter what, never give up." Yet when Gundy is confronted with playing 2 decent OOC opponents, Gundy does none of the aforementioned. In fact, he attempts to abandon obligation & worm his way into a more advantageous situation. Gundy is a great example of your modern day college football coach: A sliver-tongued con-man who tries to find an easy out the first time he is confronted with his own personal adversity. That's why it makes me sick to see these grifters referred to as father figures. They aren't father figures. They are scheming connivers out to make a fortune off of gullible fanbases & athletic departments.

He does have more to lose than Dan. Gundy plays in a weak conference (w/o a championship game) so his road to a BCS game easier. If he can run the table in the conference, feasible with OU and UT seemingly down a notch, he's positioning for a higher exposure game.

It's weaker than the SEC, but it's a pretty strong conference. Better than the other 3 Big-5 conferences. They don't play a lick of defense in that league, but the offenses are pretty good.

Wonder how much is good offense and how much is bad defense. Really hope ok state can't stop the run when we meet

We played one in Jacksonville just 3 months ago.

That is why I don't understand the fans wanting this game with OSU.
