So, are we using the matte helmets or back to the shiny ones?

i dont care what color the facemask (i prefer white or gray) or whether its matte or shiny, but the stripes on the helmet and jerseys have GOT TO GO. we look like a bunch of clowns with those unis and helmets. the maroon does make the white really pop though.

adidas has proven themselves to be utterly incompetent. im afraid we will have to go through another season looking like a giant bookmark. just give me maroon without all the extra crap.

chillbilly, if you want an interesting concept project, how about incorporating the state of mississippi into a design. like, an outline of the state of mississippi, with the word state beside it or diagonally through it. land mass does have a nice ring to it though.

I like a lot of the matte helmets, but a maroon matte helmet just looks like primer.

I wonder how they'll look in pink or yellow? **

maybe we can convince adidas to give us something that doesnt look terrible and we can wear whatever terrible uniforms they want us to wear during warmups then switch to our real, nice looking jerseys and helmet. if only there was a prescient set for such action.**

How could you forget? It's our ugliest helmet, ever. Guess it doesn't matter what the fans think, however, as long as Stricklin likes them.

I too dislike the matte helmets. I prefer the shiny ones. We've got to get rid of that ugly *** white stripe. I guess I'm in the minority because I like the maroon face mask instead of the white ones. Just my opinion.

I like the gloss helmets personally, but if its an option of having a gloss helmet with a fugly white stripe on it or a plain matte helmet with no stripe, give me the matte.

The maroon jerseys with the white stripes are on par with the Russell jerseys, which I never thought would be possible switching to Adidas. I can tolerate them when we're winning, or at least when they don't wear those god awful undershirts with the bookmark sleeves.

Call me crazy, but our white tops even with the stripes look bad ***. I wish we wore them with white pants every chance we got.

Why is the premise one or the other? Almost all teams have more than one helmet they use and that is what will continue to happen with our team. Unless you are Alabama, you will have more than one during a season.

MSU has gone through 3 logos in 10 years and the justification for this new logo was brand continuity. The teams that use multiple helmets, even Bama (you're forgetting their houndstooth helmets), at least try to match their traditional helmet with their alt. MSU's two helmets are drastically different, so much that they change the entire image of the jerseys. If we go with both they need to decide on a face mask color and stripe or no stripe.

The days of one helmet, one uniform, one style are gone. The final goal will be for them to have a different uniform combination at every game you see. That way all fans can find a look they like. They also have to get more stuff to stay trendy. Addidas doesn't want you to wear the same hat to game for 5 years. They want you to buy a new shirt with the right logo. When Russell, Under Armor or Nike then gets the contract they will want to sell their stuff.

You're missing the point of my post. You do know that we'd still have the same logo and concept on our helmet regardless of provider right? Going to this current logo didn't have anything to do with moving to Adidas.

I understand that. However we have multiple logos that could go on a helmet. (Like the snowbowl helmet). There are multiple ways they can be used and multiple treatments that can be done to a helmet and uniform. So the idea that we would have ONE helmet or should have just one is archaic. So even if we own the logo(s) and require they be used in any design, there are still many options available to our equipment provider. They want to sell product.

An example would be those uniform tops Adidas came up for us at the CWS. I happened to wear the inspiration for those tops when I played with the Astros in the early 80s. I hated that top and am glad they only wore it for BP. My nephew loved them and would have loved to see them wear them in the game. So these companies want to come up with multiple looks so they can sell more product to people with different tastes.

The '09 Uniforms were Adidas. Why can't we use them?

The 2012 helmet and shoulder stripes are the freaking worst.

Is there a particular reason we can't go back to using these? I prefer the maroon facemask, but gray might be cool, too.

why we cant just pick something that doesnt look like absolute dog **** is beyond me. its not like the formula is complicated. keep it simple with a classic look. how hard is that. dammit adidas, just make a chillbilly version and we (97%) can all be happy:

boom. done. we could use these for the next decade and nobody would say a word (highly doubt that, but still, most would welcome these). why is it so hard not to look ridiculous? croots' would love em, fans would love em, lets move on to something that really matters. looking at you stricklin.
