So basically there's no way to get a ticket this weekend?...

They only have 3700, all of which are being sold to ULL season ticket holders and to their people. So there will be a 1pm game Friday that's "sold out" with probably next to 0 in attendance since I doubt ULL fans are gonna come out on a Friday afternoon to watch MSU and SDSU play baseball...

Exactly. It's the biggest crock of **** in collegiate sports. The old crusty bastard, Polk, was right about the NCAA. Baseball is run like the government, and I'll leave it at that.

Wrong. ULL earned the right to host. We didn't. It's that simple. It sucks that our fans can't get tickets, but we have only ourselves to blame. Win a few of those terrible non-conference losses and we wouldn't be in this situation.

Not that i agree with ULL but what exactly do you expect? For them to roll out the gotdamed red carpet for us? If we would have taken care of business, we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. Lets just win our 3 and get the 17 outtta there.

I'm betting on finding a ULL fan that doesn't care about seeing us play SDS on

a Friday afternoon or one that can't get away from work and am going over on Friday. The further we advance though the slimmer the chances are.

Then they need to build onto that mousetrap of a 17'n stadium if they are going to be a player.

Yeah, cause Cal St. Fullerton has such an awesome stadium. This year, ULL has been more of a player than we have. Like I said, it sucks. But it's our own damn fault.

Yeah I guess it sucks, but still no way ULL is the #1 team in the nation according to the polls. They play in a decent conference but there are 4 teams better than them in the SEC. I guess will find out this weekend about them being "Super"! Say what you want but I'm betting they don't make it to the CWS!

Doesn't matter, even if you've earned the right to host the NCAA should require a specific percentage of tickets be at least offered to the visiting fanbases for an NCAA sanctioned tournament. If they have a 3700 seat stadium and say the mandate was for 10% for each of the other 3 teams that might be only 370 tickets but thats better than nothing. Actually I think I have now seen that ULL will give the other schools 200 tickets each so that helps a little. At least maybe the players' families can attend.

I agree. No way they're as good as their hype is right now. And their conference actually isn't as good as it used to be. It's been gutted by CUSA and South Alabama has been pretty down recently. But there's no question that they've earned the right to host a regional and we haven't. We're actually pretty lucky to be put in about as "easy" of a path as possible to get to the CWS. Not that it's going to be easy, but getting the worst national seed (I know they're #5, but I think that's too high) is a good break for us.

Last year didn't the NCAA push Indiana to play at a AA stadium if they wanted to host?

Indiana hosted at their own stadium last year. Capacity there is barely half ULL's capacity. People need to just quit bitching about the ticket situation. It is what it is and it's our own damn fault we aren't hosting too. It's hard for me to feel much sympathy for a team that didn't get the job done.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you that they deserve the host and we don't. The problem is the site. I think the NCAA has a responsibility to ensure if opposing team fans want to travel that tickets be available. And if the stadium does not have a large capacity, don't send a team like State to that regional. The NCAA has stated they try to keep travel in mind when determining regional sites. I have to think at least part of this is fan attendance.

So

Baseball is run like the government, and I'll leave it at that.

do you want the ncaa to give us something we haven't earned? That seems to contradict what I can guess are your political thoughts, given the above statement.

Honestly, I'm sick of not hosting. We have hosted 1 regional in the past 10 years. Cohen and his team need to get their heads out of their asses in these pre-conference games and the fan base wouldn't be bitching. Blame Cohen and his idea that he can use these games to "experiment" with different line ups. His experimentation is causing the one of the best traveling college baseball fan bases to sit their asses on the coach this weekend. Blame Cohen, not the NCAA or ULL.

Let that sink in. Beat a freaking +200 RPI team twice at home and we host. You are right, nobody to blame but ourselves. I hope this will be a staple of the pre-game speech before every noncon game we play for the next 20 years.

With less money in the athletic department, less history, more difficult recruiting, and a much smaller stadium, they did more than us to get to host.

Cry me a river about not getting tickets because their fans have them instead.

I don't blame the "experiment" for not winning, we did not want to be there playing them and they wanted to win. It's that simple. The lack of production and lack of control was 100% a mindset problem. We won the first game, barely squeaked by in the second, then completely did not give two ***** in the last two. A good team would have responded on Sunday after a humiliating loss on Saturday, instead, they took absolute control from the first pitch. No other excuse comes close. We give a **** that weekend, we are hosting.

Just go to StubHub and find yourself a ticket. They have the event listed if you search for Lafayette, but no tickets are posted yet, probably because their hasn't been enough time for buyer's to get them.

There were a small but vocal group of Central Arkansas fans in the grandstand at the Dude last year. Did we give them those tickets or were they up for sale by ticket holders?

Yeah, I agree. Two weeks ago Perfect Game was projecting LSU to be the #2 in the ULL regional. Talk about a clusterfvck.

Well first

off, i'm not going to go on 10 years, because 4 of those year Cohen wasn't even the coach. Then, two of the remaining 6 we were in complete rebuild mode (09 & 10). I'm pretty sure NOBODY expected us to be hosting regionals in those years. Then, in 2011 we were 19-5 in OOC. In 2012, we were 18-6 in OOC. In 2013, we were 22-2 in OOC games. In 2014, we were 16-8.

I'm not suggesting that we did not have some bad OOC losses this year (and one too many). However, to suggest Cohen and our clubs have "had their heads up their asses" in OOC games from 2011-2014 is not an accurate statement. We won nearly 80% of our OOC in that span.

Our scheduling wasn't the problem. Had we won those 5 sub 100 losses, even gone 4-1, we'd have hosted. 41-17, 18-12 in the conference would have hosted.

Yeah,

we definitely had some bad losses this year. I was just speaking towards the "Cohen and his teams have had their heads up their asses the past 10 years in OOC games" theory.

That's just not the case.
