So do we have any donors here who have received these renderings?

I think the decision has already been made to expand, he is being smart and milking it out all he can to continue to get sell outs.

Stricklin may be doing the right thing - but what I got out of it is "not any time soon". It said up to 2 years after a bunch of other longer term stuff happens.

I think we're looking at 5-7 years at the earliest.

Enough with the "start starting" stuff.

and renovation in order to tie the stadium in with what you see as you walk upon the drill field. It would tie the stadium in with the rest of the campus.

That's where ours stands. He'll look at the idea of expansion once he feels it's needed. At least Stricklin is being somewhat proactive, so that if you do need or want to expand sooner, you have an idea of what to do.

The way we'll do it is we'll just wait until it seems to make sense. Then we'll throw something together, try to squeeze it in in a timeframe and budget that can't be met, and then we'll scale it back later to try to meet the timeframe and budget.

18-24 months? That's ridiculous. Two years to add 5-7K seats? I know he once mentioned about 75K and I dunno how that takes two years. Maybe one year for the expansion, then another year for the renovation. I have a feeling it's going to look really nice, but I don't wanna wait 18-24 months for it all to be complete once they finally start. I agree though with what the above poster said about milking it out and making a big deal out of sell outs. If every home game the rest of the season is sold out and we sell out of season tickets next summer, I think it will be announced that at the end of next season we will start. Maybe that will keep Dan around at least a couple more years too.

From Stricklin's letter:

<font color="#660000">"We are still in the planning process for the initial phase – the north end zone addition and the ground-level renovation of the west side. Once those plans are complete and the funding streams identified to support the work, the construction phase will require 18-24 months. We believe that a 5- to 7,000 capacity growth is a realistic goal for us at this time."

</font><font color="#000000">I read this to mean that the expansion could be complete in 24 months or less (6 months to complete the planning & funding; then 18 months to build).</font>

I think this is on the fast track and I expect us to break ground sometime within the next year and the addition to be finished in time for the 2013 season.

I don't intend it as a flame but why would you guys need to expand? You only fill it to capacity once or twice a year and the rest of the season is only 75-90% full.
