So does anyone know anything about this Chaz Ramsey situation?

I saw that he was granted his release from Auburn, but the only SEC teams he will be able to transfer to were UM and MSU. Has anyone heard if he might come to State? It definitely couldn't hurt our O-line.

It looks like Gene's 7 articles/day during Chaz's high school recruitment might pay off if he comes to State.

Of course the question is going to be how well his back has healed. If he's healthy, he can help us get some payback on LSU for Elliott. Or on Rebelbruiser.

his back.....Could just be a rumor but if you've ever had a bad back, and I do, I wouldn't blame him....

he thinks he's healthy and can play...Auburn's training staff thinks differently. And therein lies the problem.

Just good stuff. I've been told that AU says he can play but he doesn't want to chance it this year and wants a redshirt year. AU coaches got pissed, he said screw you im leaving they said ok.

Im surprised Tubs would let him go to MSU or Ole Miss. Figured he would say no SEC teams. But considering we are both barely in the SEC he is not too worried.

I can't imagine him going anywhere else other than MSU.

Your information is off. He would have played this season if he didn't oppose the idea of re-injuring his back. The auburn training staff was ready to put him on painkillers or whatever in the games so he wouldn't feel it. His back was already weak until during weight lifting he hurt his back squatting. The staff is all for him playing but he is out on his own terms.

from Auburn people that usually have good info. The only worthwhile post I see on the Auburn board comes from a guy that seems to know:

"He thought he was healthy enough to play, the team doctors didn't. End of story."

if 8dog and dawgstudent are correct and he wants to play but the Auburn coaching staff wouldn't let him, he's a fool. Those guys would play him in a heartbeat unless there was a real risk of him 17-ing himself up bad. BCS school coaches aren't in the business of letting good players sit on the sidelines.

Thank you. There lies the answer as well. It was Chaz's decision not to play. Auburn did not want him to redshirt.

There is no SEC rule about a school having to give a release before a player can transfer. The SEC adopted he NCAA transfer rules some time back. NCAA rules require the first school give a permission to contact. Some schools simply tell a player they have no scholarship for them. A school will not be allowed to refuse a permission to contact and not give a scholarship.

There is a rule that if you transfer without a release (also called permission to contact) then you cannot get a scholarship at the new institution for a year. The same 1 year of not playing on the field applies. Of course this is important; but if a player wants to pay his own way for a year, then there is nothing the first school can do.

I know the Ramsey family. Chaz wasn't ready to play and AU coaches felt he should be ready to play. Chaz didn't want to take a chance if he wasn't 100% healthy. Per the doctors, with the proper rehab, he should be ready to roll by next year.

You mean like so?

I know Chaz and he isn't one to sit out if he can play. Supposedly Tubs tried to rush him back and he balked at the idea of playing with a hurt back. If we can get him he would be a big pick-up.
