game coordinator and hopefully recruit like the SOB he has a reputation for. Brewster coaches tightends and takes on a bigger recruiting role (don't know what this means) and Sallach to administrative duties. I have been wondering when Sallach would ever sign a recruit and I don't think he ever did, so this is a positive move. All of this is according to Murray or gene. Our coaching staff is probably as strong as it has been since Mullen took over. We have lost alot of dead weight and replaced it with good recruiters, assuming Townsend can recruit like most think he will. Now, we just have to get the rest of the machine running like it should.

I agree, it's better. Honestly, I think Mullen felt some heat with Freeze up the road and decided he needed to beef up the recruiting. Good for him, it's been a long time coming.

It's also being widely reported that Brewster is taking over Special Teams duty as well.

That frees up Mullen to do what? You guessed it... Call plays.

So No rumors about Gonzales being the special teams coach as well? "In addition to his role as Utah's wide receivers coach, Gonzales also served as the special teams coordinator for the Utes. In 2003, Utah led the nation in kickoff returns with a 28.2 average. The Utes also ranked third in the nation in net punting (40.8 yards) and fifth in the country in kickoff returns (26.2) in 2004."

Up 2 posts...

Special teams is going to Brewster, who was tight ends/special teams coach at North Carolina with Mack Brown for 9 years before going to Texas with him.

Mullen is no longer special teams coach. What does that leave us to believe he will now be doing? Seems that calling plays is the likely answer...

Hopefully this helps ease the pain some are still feeling from the departure of the late, great Coach Hud.

If Collins and Turner can put together even a fraction better of a defense this year and Townsend can draw even one contended recruit, this is easily the best staff ever at MSU. When was the last time we had as many big name coaches as any other SEC school?

Keonning and Hevesy still suck balls. Hopefully they're the next to come out in the wash. Brew and Mullen are firing on all cylinders now so if we can just get them to leave I have no doubt they'll knock the hire out of the park.
