From today's results?

I have a feeling we basically just sorta scratch it move on with the winners and go back to these teams pre- Week 13 to evaluate for state finals minus any injuries?

Everyone else had to play in those conditions. The best teams won in all cases,...

Not what I'm talking about Gooms talking about trying to figure out the match-ups for the state finals....take this into heavy consideration or not so much..

Meh. The weather will be similar out in DeKalb (hopefully no snow though). Wind always blows there.

Edgy, as in forget how the teams performed this week and focus on how they performed in the quarterfinals? as far as determining finals winners goes

Yah just struggling with the whole snow factor most teams who played at 1PM today or near that time played in snow packed fields. I'm semi confident NIU would be a bit more on top of conditions? And again no rip on schools today thought Montini dads as an example when way above and beyond

If Palatine was scheduled for 1 pm I promise you they would have been delayed the snow was terrible at that time.

Go look at my video from Montini I couldn't see the scoreboard for a quarter plus guessing NIU would of been able to at least have a bit better cleared surface.

One thought I had watching many of the games was: I really appreciate a talent like Brodner. There's a kid whose talents translate in any type of situation.....fast track on turf; slow, muddy track at Duchon; or a snow-filled track with bad footing like today. He can run over and by you in any situation on any type of surface. Not sure there is a more versatile athlete / player in the state. Add his talents to GW's defense, and it doesn't matter what type of weather GW encounters in DeKalb, the Hilltoppers will be ready.

Was impressed with Montini today as well. They adjusted their game in the first half, then had the great comeback in the 4th quarter. I thought they were dead when PR went up by two scores at the end of the 3rd. Two big pass plays and a scoop and score on defense.....and they are in the lead in a blink of an eye. I've seen that script from the Broncos too many times. Guess I should not have doubted them.

I'm not handing anyone a title either. Did not think the Palatine / Loyola game would be close. Dead wrong on that one....not sure if there was a HF hangover, but the Ramblers seemed a bit flat....got it going and seemed in control....but Palatine would not go away.

Gooms,

5-6" of snow fell in Burbank during the game today. The field started out green but by the end of the 1st quarter 2" on the field and the shovelers struggled to keep the sidelines and yard markers open. St. Laurence busted their butts and did their best to make things as good as possible but the field was a tough play for sure.

1st of all congrats on your kids getting downstate again.

2nd of all 6 inches in 2+ hours? Holy cow,... No way a professional crew gets the field cleared that quick.

Gooms,

It was clear before the game...never during the game...the boys watched the Marist/WV game at my house tonight and to say the least were a bit jealous of how pristine that field was prepared for play.

1st of all congrats on your kids getting downstate again.

Volunteers spent three hours shoveling the field at St. Laurence prior to game time. Field was completely green and playable. Snow started just before kickoff and continued the entire game. Impossible for any crew to keep up. At times it was tough to see from the stands and I hear near impossible to make much out on NFHS. Take nothing away from Naz, but the conditions favored their run game style. All touchdowns on long runs where they found a seam. St. Laurence offense is based on quickness, cuts and pulling lineman. All of which are difficult in several inches of snow. And forget the passing game in these conditions. Tough to see these kids go out in a semifinal game where the weather conditions stopped the offense as much as Naz did. Wish the game could have been played later after the snow stopped. Good luck to Naz in Dekalb.
