I thought it was great! Much more clarity in it, and the wind doesn't whip the sound around like it did in the other one. However, it could easily be turned up a notch, but some old farts would start complaining. Right now it's only at 15%.

Sound quality is like upgrading from AM radio to compact discs. Volume is sufficient if the crowd isn't making much noise. I also think it should have been turned up a notch. But it was still louder than the old system.

At times (for instance during the military songs) the sound had pretty large variance in volume. But, regardless of any bugs, it was a huge improvement. And not only was it better than the horrible sound we had before, but it really was good sound for the most part.

It was at halftime, though, during the patriotic deal they always do the last game. It was some huge plane, but somebody smarter than me will have to tell you what it was

..according to the announcer.

And not only was it late but if you sat in the upper rows of the West side you probably never saw it because it flew, what I can only assume, was a ****** course, and completely missed the center of the field. We looked up and just saw a wing with a couple of engines hanging on it.

On a side note though... it was a nice moment for me and my dad. We hadn't sat together all year and as the belated "jet" flew off course we just looked at each other and laughed without saying a word. It was one of those "I'm sorry for making you a MSU fan, son" type things.

The first couple of seniors came out when their name was called, then the pace of players running out got way out ahead of the announcer and their display on the mootube. After the last senior ran through the band's formation, the rest of the team ran on. The last player was through the band formation when the sparklers went off.

No bass, could barely hear it at times, not impressive at all. Everyone I talked to said the same thing.

...the management of the sound coming OUT of the sound system is highly suspect. Some observations, none in order of "importance":

1. On 3rd downs, let's refrain from using AC/DC's "Hells Bells." Just about every high school/academy in Mississippi seems to do this.

2. Why does music have to be played (read: blared -- see #4 below) after almost EVERY play? Why even have a band present?

3. Re: #2 -- The band and the Sound System are playing at the same time. For some reason, coordinating this seems unmanageable at present.

4. So far the Sound System seems to be treated like a new guitar amp: We've managed to turn up all the knobs to "11."

5. Variety in music is a great thing, but it's taken to an extreme. In consecutive sound bites, I seem to recall the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Loggins, Soulja Boy, and music from the big band era. This seems more like schizophrenia than variety.

Granted, the clarity is much better, and sounds mothing like the old system where we should expect Flick to say "That is all" at the end of every play. However, we seem to have found ourselves with a new toy and, hopefully over time, the event/PR staff will create a better presentation and promote the atmosphere of a football game.
