And of the contingent of people who are going to mostly care about Sugarland (ie. females), 90% of them give a 17 about the Spring game.

But this is a major swing and a miss. The band is not universal enough for us to expect everyone to want to hear them. I will go to the game because ill be in town, but im sure many people wont.

If you don't want to come, shut up and stay home. Don't ***** because you don't like Sugarland, because you have to pay 25 bucks, because it's practice, etc. etc.... If we have only 25K show up for the spring game, which I think it will be more, that is $625,000 in ticket sales. Sugarland may get 150K of that ???? That leaves damn near a half million for MSU. Plus all the concessions. As Stricklin has said, this is a first of it's kind and I think it's worth a shot. You have a family friendly huge country band coming in that could be a good time for most, plus getting to watch our football team scrimmage. I'm sure you all have blown 25 bucks on something more worthless than this in your lives. Now what we do with that money is a different story. It should stay right where it was spent to help pay for the expansion.

Seriously, what the hell is our athletic department thinking? A) Sugarland sucks and B) I wouldn't pay $25 to watch LSU or Bama's spring game, much less ours. Factor in the gas to Starkville and back at likely $3.30+/galln by April and it's a pretty easy decision to stay home. And since we know the Athletic Department reads this board, hopefully they'll come to their senses and make SBW and event worth going to this year instead of wrecking it with crap like a $25 dollar Sugarland concert.

I really would like to see Dak play, but it just ain't worth it at that price. First big mistake by our AD since Byrne took over. They'll be lucky to get 5K there at $25 a head.

Well, I did fly to West Virginia that time....

P.S. Let me break something to you....there weren't 25K at the spring game last year, and it was free.

This is a horrible idea to combine a ticket to the Spring Game with "admission" to see Sugarland. I could give a rat's *** about any country act...especially this one. Do I want to see the game? Yes. Do I want to see Sugarland? No.

Time to rethink this idea Marketing Dept. Let's think about a way to empty the stadium and readmit with a separately sold ticket. Otherwise I probably will not make the effort to come to the game.

Doing the dash that morning and had planned to head back to Starkville afterwards. But I'mcertainly notpaying $25 ($50 including wife) to see a spring game & a band I'm pretty sure I've never / rarelyheard.

I don't have a problem with it, but I will just not be going. Maybe on the bright side you get some teenagers on campus that normally wouldn't be there. I guess it could be seen as a recruiting tool for students. I'm guessing if the concert is after the game you'll have a lot of people skip the game & show up late for the concert.

Warrior Dash will last longer than you think. After you bust your *** through that thing you are going to want to hang around, look and talk with other yahoos over there, drink a lot of beer, eat, watch the band, etc... Its a pretty good party. I stayed a lot longer than I thought I would.

Hell or just see them in general. Is the Baptist Student Union still calling all the shots on campus? The selection of music that the student body (or those in charge pull from) is horrific. Let the spring game be free so it draws a buzz and people with 3 kids don't have to pay 25.00 x 3 to let their 8-12yr old. Explain the logic here? Anyone... Anyone... Buehler... Buehler... Buehler..

Instead of going to the first half of the game, I will go back to my hotel after the baseball game. Then I can get some rest and eat food and actually make it out that night. Meanwhile, the university will be making money on people who like ****** music.

Absolutely. I am a season ticket holder....drive 9 hours each way for games. Always bring the whole family to SBW. But now, for my family of 6 to go to the Spring game, it's $150?

Nah, I don't think so.

enjoy the show.

And if you drive 9 hours each way to a practice game with a family of 6, after hotels, food, and gas what is another $150? Not like you are spending it on contraception.

Free passes for those just attending the game and $25 for the people who want to stay for the post game "entertainment." Seat the two groups on opposite sides and you should have plenty of time to file out all those who wisely chose not to pay before the band takes the stage.

Is this idea not feasible?

Har har. But You are correct in that it is a practice. Nobody wants to pay to see that. I am indifferent toward Sugarland.

Look, I get it. Publicity for the university. That's cool. I just think there are better ways than to lump it in with the spring game. No way this doesn't hurt attendance.
