So I haven't watched a NBA game in several years (probably a decade), but...

I thought I'd tune in tonight since this game has been getting so much positive airtime (i.e. the matchup everyone has been waiting for since LJ came into the league, etc.)...

Nope, it (NBA) still sucks several years later - time to turn over to Deadliest Catch.

The NBA are gonna gift wrap the title for the Heat if it remains like this.

Also, the Thunder couldn't shoot much worse.

But Wade is the biggest douchebag, tittybaby, flopper in the NBA. I have come to just absolutely loathe him.

4 guys clear out the lane so 1 guy can drive and pass once (maybe) and then shoot. There is no team ball involved. The playoffs have been getting good ratings, so I'm sure I'm in the minority. But, again, I think it sucks.

On the bright side - the Northwestern is bringing in full pots of opies...

One guy pitches and only one guy comes up to hit. You are in the minority. It's generally a different sport than college basketball, but its not arbitrary. Isolation allows for fewer turnovers. Also, there's tons of passing and lots of teamwork on the defensive end, so I think you should watch a few more games.

Yeah college bball teams don't run isolation plays at all do they? The way college basketball is now is not much different from the NBA to me the argument that the product is bad is a little silly.

Exactly. Too many basketball "fans" are still living in lower level high school ball where they pass and cut their way to a 46-45 victory. Why do they do that? They don't have anybody good enough to isolate and create a mismatch.

then you probably won't ever get into the NBA game. And that's ok. I still can barely watch a college basketball game, and no amount of explanation is going to ever help that. Same with hockey. I recognize the skill, but I just don't find it entertaining. Probably never going to change.

If it weren't for school loyalties, college basketball would be on par with the D-league as far as fan support. There are just too few teams that put a quality product on the floor, and even fewer that put a different quality product on the floor than the NBA (i.e., running an offense that relies less on creating good matchups and more on off-ball screens, cuts, and ball reversals to create shots).

I think offenses in the NBA would get a lot more interesting if the shot clock was 5 seconds longer, but it's not like what they do now is really as simple as isolation and clear out. People just don't notice what is going on off the ball to create the spacing and matchups NBA teams want or how they force the defense to make decisions between two less than desirable options.

Heck, I might even enjoy playing those sports, but they are just not entertaining to watch, for me.

That's one reason why the NBA averages more scoring than college. Less time to handle the ball and set your offenses up. Watching what teams do given the limited time keeps the game at a faster pace and makes ball movement that much more important because you really don't have a lot of time, and the teams that are able to do that are usually something special.<div id="LCS_336D0C35_8A85_403a_B9D2_65C292C39087_communicationDiv"></div>
