So I know it's been discussed, what about Marcus Bullard

Is it pretty much settled that he threw the game against Syracuse? I don't remember all that well b

I'd long since settled on that theory -- but I've heard recently from someone that was pretty close to the program that he probably sustained a mild concussion early in the game on a Syracuse screen that he ran into blind. This person said that directly after the game he was loopy as hell and couldn't remember anything about what had happened during the course of the game.

Who knows? I know that is certainly a preferable excuse to me vs throwing a legit chance at a basketball national championship...

You had actually settled on that theory? That says a lot.

Oh, I'm well aware that idiot State fans have been spreading this story for years.

State fans aren't the ones writing the articles bud -- Those are neutral third parties from all over the country...

You're exactly right. Sometimes it's just best and "smart" to let sleeping dogs lie. What benefit is there in even discussing this. State people it seems love to dwell on misery.

Sorry chief, I wasn't aware of articles from around the country stating factually that he threw the game. I may have seen one or two articles that referenced the rumors that he threw the game, again, started by idiot State fans.

But you don't believe that Marcus Bullard threw the game anymore, right?

There was an opinion piece posted on here a few weeks ago where the author (maybe from CBS?) said "... I still to this day believe that Mississippi State threw a game in the 1996 Final Four, because they played their worse game in months then."

And that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. Never mind that we hadn't seen anything all year like that Syracuse zone. Everyone knows Bullard is a bad apple. He must have thrown it.

And we still have State fans saying this crap.

Oh no doubt, I was just putting Engie's post about unbiased 3rd parties into context. I assume that's what he was talking about anyway.

There are no "facts" to it -- just alot of speculation. And that speculation is not exclusive to State fans -- It's ALL around college basketball with people that remember that game.

I'm not saying that I do or don't believe that he threw the game -- I've never put that much actual research into the one way or the other(should have stated it better initially, which I admit sounds worse than I feel in reality) -- I was just saying that there are multiple plausible theories out there.

A zone is not an excuse to throw it into the 3rd row consistently after jumping out to a huge initial lead. How Bullard played in that game definitely raised red flags. Whether or not it was "thrown", he was "concust", or whatever -- it was certainly a matter of controversy.
