So I see the rebels have an article in the CL about recrootin.......

They can't win a damn thing on the field, but I guess they will always have that recrootin. Typically during this past sports year, it'd take the rebels about 2-3 days to get over their embarrassment on the weekends, in basically all sports. They'd be gone until about Wednesday or so, then start talking **** again until that following weekend. Football was self explanatory, basketball the same, then they'd start the 'we're the better program and atmosphere' ******** during baseball. <div>
</div><div>Anyway, so now that recrootin is picking up I guess we'll see alot more of olemissbydamn and rebelbruiser over here, telling us what we're doing wrong. We only thought it was bad during Nutt and his overhyped classes, it's really going to get serious with Orgeron Incarnate at the helm. Interesting article though, and I like his strategy. </div>

Quote from article:

<span class="pp"></span>Coach Hugh Freeze will readily acknowledge that his
staff has offered scholarships to a lot of players in the class of 2013. He just
doesn't have a clue what that total is.<span class="aa"></span>
</p>

<span class="pp"></span>"Heck no," Freeze said. "I haven't even looked at that
list."

So Freeze will get commitments from a truck load of players, so many he doesn't even know how many kids he has issued offers, and then screw most of those kids later by pulling the offer.
I wonder ifBucky will whine about a player changing his mind because the player made a "committement".

And yes, I know that all schools "over-offer" due to academic causualties and getting jilted, but not to the extent that the schools have no idea how many offers have been issued.

It's an interesting recruiting philosophy and one that really doesn't have a down side so long as you don't lose anytime or budgeted recruiting money pursuing a player in California, that probably won't come, versus a player in a neighboring state. However, that is the major risk. If you are using finite resources to pursue something that probably won't happen over something that could happen, then you are making a major mistake and could set the program back even further.

was that he was publicizing his crootin strategy. But even still, it's the same damn thing all schools do. Bottom line you have to convince them to go to your school. We all act like Eddie O was such a great recruiter, and he was, but he definitely worked his *** off at it. Most people will succeed if they work their *** off, given they have some shred of competence.<div>
</div><div>But until Freeze finds his Jevan Snead, his players won't have near the success that O's did, albeit with a different coach.</div>

a quick Rivals search says MSU has given out 208 offers. So Freeze has given out 18% more offers than Mullen, and I think that's pretty reasonable for a first year coach coming off a winless SEC season.<div>
</div><div>I thought this quote of Freeze was pretty funny: "<span style="color: rgb(44, 44, 44); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; text-align: left; ">We've probably already found out 200 of these kids, they have no interest."</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(44, 44, 44); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; text-align: left; ">
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="text-align: -webkit-auto; ">So out of 246 offers, OM has 10 commits and 200 uninterested, so that really only leaves around 36 currently offered to mainly focus on. Of course more offers will go out during the players' senior season. If I had to guess, they'll probably exceed 300 offers out by the end of the recruiting year.</span></div>

he is vetting these guys to the level he should be from all angles, athletic/academic/character. He seems to be in a huge hurry to offer first and offer often. It seems to me<div>we have seen this movie before and it wasn't such a happy ending for the Bears. Just an observation and way too early to tell. Cousin Eddie definitely takes a different approach. He wants</div><div>them to come to camp where he can thoroughly evaluate them and he wants to get it clear on a personal level with the recruit and the parents on what it takes to be successful in his program. It scares</div><div>some guys off. For now, I am sticking with Cousin Eddie and his approach.</div>

that now you can't sign 35 to bring in 25. The hard 25 signing cap to me makes it make MORE sense to be selective in who you are throwing out offers to if, at the end of the day, you want any credibility with HS recruits. If I can only sign a hard cap of 25 do I necessarily want to take the first 25 willing to commit out of the hundreds of offers I've got out on the table? I mean the alternative is to pull offers from committed guys once more attractive prospects agree to come your way.

I mean season tickets for this season is no where near ready to be mailed out, The beginning of the high school football season is months away, it is just under a year to signing day.... yet MSU fans get baited into the same recruiting conversation with UM fans. <div>
</div><div>I'm holding any of my recruiting talk till after the signs are held up of "fear the thumb" after this years EB. </div>
