So I'm thinking it would be very bad for State, Ole Miss, etc....

If the Big 12 can keep those two, there won't be much movement other than what the Big 10 does. But if the SEC or PAC-10 can take one of those schools, all hell is going to break loose. But don't underestimate North Carolina or the Virginia schools. They're the 10th and 12th most populous states and if the SEC goes anywhere, those schools will be targets.

with the USC and UGa natural rivalries.

Plus in my mind we have an ongoing feud with Clemson in baseball and basketball, and we beat that *** in the Peach in 98. And we owe Tech for the last two years...

FWIW - and this was strictly his opinion - but a person who has been involved on the media side of things in the SEC for many years thinks the Super Conference format is where everything is headed. And based on his theory, there will be very few haves and a lot of have nots.

The Big 12will lose 3 teams. CO will be in the Pac-10 with MO and NE ending up in the Big-10. Who are they going to replace those teams with? Houston, Memphis, Tulsa? TX and OK will be looking to move, and fast.

For the SEC to add a school, that school has to bring in $20M of additional TV/bowl revenue for the SEC to share or everyone currently in the SEC will be taking a pay cut. Schools like GA Tech and Clemson can't come anywhere near that. Schools like Texas, North Carolina and the Virginia schools can because they expand the SEC into new and very big markets. IF the SEC does do anything at all, and I'm not convinced they will, it will be the biggest thing to happen to college athletics maybe ever. It would dwarf the Big 10 adding Nebraska, Missouri and Rutgers.

If the PAC-10 / Big 12 TV alliance comes through, the PAC-10 won't raid their TV partner for a school. The PAC-10's decision is, "Do we want to partner with the Big 12 to get us into new markets or do we want to destroy them to get into new markets."
