So in my view we HAVE to have a 3rd QB on the roster...

assuming we don't get Wallace or Liggins what are our options? Try and get Todd Mays or Forest Williams as a walk on? Other options?

I think he's worth a scholarship if we don't sign Wallace. I'm afraid it's going to be Williams as a walk-on though, and I think that's a mistake unless we just can't sign Mays. I figure Liggins will stay home and play for the Bears. I don't think he's a QB, but he is a good athlete and a good recruit for whoever does sign him.

not sure they are what we really need, but if we had to play them would a walk-on hs qb really be that much better

is learning the playbook and practicing at the QB position. The guys you listed are fine for running some Wildcat sets or something but we would be EXTREMELY limited if they had to play as a regular QB after spending the majority of their time practicing as WRs and DBs.

Agree. And, the Favre departure leaves a 'hole'.

My 'first' choice would be to sign Wallace ... comes with experience and 3 years to play 3. He is available for Spring and fills the QB void. This is a 'no brainer' after Favre left.

Second choice would be to have a HS QB walk-on. This guy is 'not' going to see time next year anyway but we do need a scout team QB for the fall. We already have several guys that could fill the #3 QB position if it came to that next year.

I'm not sold on this Forrest Williams kid like a lot on this board are, but I'd much rather have him than any of those 3. Really 2, because no way Banks would ever play QBother than maybe a snap or 2 here and there. </p>

listen this isn't best case senario ...i was just saying we have bodies we can put back there so we don't have to rely on a qb right out of high school that has no d1 offers and walked on

Trunk,

I read today that Air Canada is going to try to make it in the NFL and if he does not then he will go back to school to finish his degree. He is in Florida now at a training facility with other hopefuls working out.

Of course we're in trouble if we're down to our #3 QB. But it's a fact there will be years when we will have to rely onour #3 QB and we'd better have the best one that we can available. I'd rather at least give ourselves a chance to win than just give up if Russell & Prescott go down. Using your logic, why even have more than about 50 players on scholarship to begin with? Because if we ever get down to #3 at any position, we're going to be hurting. We should just save that money (the athletic dept does have to write a check to the university for the scholarships) and use it for better things.

Mike Henig goes down, Josh Riddell goes down... Wesley Carroll comes in as a true freshman and leads us to a 8-5 record with a Liberty Bowl win.
