only because I think they already had it set, unless we won. But we should be in , but there is no justice when you are Mississippi State.

If our name was "UKy" and we had the exact same RPI and regular season record there would have been no question.

I have a bad feeling about this.

The small schools get screwed during football season, and amends are made during basketball season.

We needed one of two things to happen: Utah State not to flub it last night against New Mexico State. Or we needed to avoid a UK miracle tip-in with 0.1 seconds left. Things didn't go our way.

Steve Lavin just said it seconds ago. The so-called "eye test" is a factor in selection. We were just on national television and even Calipari said we should've won. We're in.

give us a shot at Kentucky as soon as it is allowable (can't remember is that 16 or 8?).

neutral floor, other end of the country, a different league's referees.

...who the hell knows at this juncture.

I would think beating the hell out of UF & Vandy then taking a Final 4 team into overtime would be enough.

But the selection committee has certain pre-designated sweethearts they want to see in. I don't think MSU is a committee sweetheart.

But I have a hard time letting a team in for getting their best wins in the conference tournament.

The entire body of work has to come into play.

I think it's 50/50.

as well as the hugejazz mistake the SEC makes year after year by having the conference tournament championship on Sunday AFTER the brackets are basically set. The decision to wait until Sunday afternoon to crown an SEC Tournament championship has hurt MSU several times. I'm sure it has hurt other SEC teams before with respect to seeding. Why the SEC keeps shooting themselves in the foot with this just boggles the mind.

If anything, it allows the committee to see our team in better depth on a day like today where there is little action across the country.

I don't buy into the theory that this hurts the SEC teams.

only b/c they only consider top 50 quality wins. If they considered top 65 quality wins, then we'd be in by a mile. I mean honestly, how much more "quality" is team number 50 over team number 65? it's so damn arbitrary.

Lu-tardi has us behind VT, but i can't see that. Our RPI and SOS are better. Their claim to the spot? 3 top 50 RPI wins (over our 2) and a membership in the great ACC. Our top 100 record is 8-6 vs their 8-7. We went to our conf. championship, they lost the first game in theirs to a bad Miami team. We've got to be ahead of them. If they make it and we don't....

would we have been as low a seed and forced to travel to the west coast with little time to rest after 4 wins in 4 days?<div>
</div><div>Would we have been a 5 seed in 1996 had we defeated UK on a Saturday rather than Sunday?</div><div>
</div><div>I'm pretty sure it has hurt seeding before.</div><div>
</div><div>Anyway, I think it is a tossup for the Dogs this year, and in light of our weak schedule, inexcusable losses to Rider and WKU are a weight tied around the team's neck. A bad losses to Bama when Bama did all they could to lose to State and losses against UPig and Auburn hurt too. That Rider loss though and the Western Kentucky loss (that was one UGLY display of basketball) may be what sinks MState.</div>

without Hummel they are a .500 team. They are a likely candidate for an early exit.

I know you can't invalidate what they accomplished with him, but they are a shell of that team now.
