So is Brewster leaving or not?

Orlando Sentinel says he's will reportedly go, but where is the Clarion Ledger? ESPN? Tallahassee paper has nothing yet, either.

Is it possible....maybe....JUST maybe....that all these outlets jumped the gun because obviously, there's just NO WAY any coach at poor lil msu could turn down any other job at all, right?

I don't do twitter. I hope he does stay, though. But, won't be completely devastated if he leaves. We've got some pretty good coaches in the fold right now.

It's obviously not a done deal YET

If it was, someone at FSU would be happy to go on the record. Hope we can hang on to him.

Looks like Sallach is back. Where do the new recruits stand with this I wonder? Especially the guys like De'Runnya Wilson who said in no uncertain terms that Tim Brewster was why he came to State.

From Rivals:

The Wenonah High School standout has developed a strong relationship with MSU wide receivers coach Tim Brewster which played a big part in his decision.

"I've built a relationship with coach Tim Brewster," Wilson said. "The type of person he is and the way he talks to me like a father, basically with football, I think it will workout if he coaches me."

From al.com:

What was the main reason why he committed to play both sports in Starkville? Wilson said it was Brewster. He coaches the wide receivers at Mississippi State.

"Tim Brewster is why I am going to play in Starkville," Wilson said. "He feels like a father to me. I just like the way he came at me. Most coaches were telling me I was going to be a star at their school.

Wilson said that stood out.

"That coach (Brewster) came at me like he was going to push me to the limit," he said. "He wanted me to work. He wasn't going to tell me something he didn't know yet. The only thing he knew about me is he was going to push me to be the best. To the limit. He just didn't want to tell me stuff that every recruit wants to hear. That's why I have a lot of respect for him."

Who knows.

I doubt there's a better time for him to have left

It doesn't affect the old class and we have a year to mend any recruit relationships damaged by him leaving. Just need get somebody good in time to go for the spring practice and on the road recruiting asap. Still sucks that he's leaving. Did your trainer source tell you he was talking to Florida State or does he only have the injury updates?

Of course it does. You can't have a bunch of disgruntled players. Hopefully Brewster sold them on MSU and not on Brewster.

There could be nothing more dysfunctional than moving Sallach back to the field. Could really mess up the team chemistry and trust, coaches and players alike.

Agree, but not in those extreme words. I think he was probably like everybody else after he took the job, saw that Starkville wasn't that bad. FSU probably paid him more, no more no less.

Well, there's really only 2 options

Of course it does. You can't have a bunch of disgruntled players. Hopefully Brewster sold them on MSU and not on Brewster.

You can pout about it, sit out a year, and hope FSU has a spot for you to transfer into so you can follow your boy Brewster and delay your progress as a football player Or, you can make the best of your situation, enjoy life as a student-athlete, and get on with making yourself the best football player you can be. I would guess the players that loved Brewster will be bummed out about it for a while, but they'll move on if they know what's best for them.

The thing about this that bugs me is his tweet mocking Bear recruits saying their coach was leaving, even when he knew it was false, yet he leaves his first chance he gets.

This is wrong in more ways than one.

He wasn't mocking any recruits.

His tweet was 3 letters Y-E-S, responding to a tweet asking if Brewster's recruiting targets were aware of the possibility/probability that Chris Kiffin was headed to Dallas (if Ole Miss was involved).

People were talking about the possibility of Chris Kiffin going to Dallas with his dad.

The first place I saw it mentioned was on Nafoom

Exactly. It's not like these are the only recruits whose recruiter and/or position coach left. Most likely they'll learn to like the new coach and everything will be fine.

Not quite. Here is what he tweeted: Tim Brewster @TimBrewster “@griffinannie: @TimBrewster Coach Brew do all the concerned recruits know Chris Kiffin is headed to Dallas?”Yes!! #HailState Brewster retweeted it with quotes, making it more than just one word. I don't see him shading that as a "possibility" He clearly implied Kiffin was headed elsewhere. He actually did what he deliberately mislead others to believe a bear coach was doing.

Not quite...

If he had been negotiating this new job during the recruiting process, and accepted it while recruiting, then he would have done the same thing you are saying that he implied Kiffin was doing.

Losing Brewster really, really hurts

He was the best recruiter on the staff by a long shot - for a coach that needs a great recruiter more than anything else. Not good that we coudn't keep him.

We need to hire a guy from the midwest and recruit Belicheck blooded lineman. Regardles our balance of run/pass, we need smart, hoss, cornbread, sitting on the porch snapping snap beans, country *** linemen.
