So, is Kent Austin basically a lame duck?

Looks like Nutt is calling all the plays. And looks like the Pig fans are spot on about him. He has taken a 1st round draft pick QB and turned him into a guy coming back for his senior year. Their offense is horrible.

I don't think they can blame it on the offensive line anymore. It has improved. They beat a bad UAB team and a bad defensive team in Arkansas at home and they thought they were a 10-2 team again. If you keep Ole Miss in 2nd and 3rd and long and bring a little heat on Snead, they're easy to stop.

Yes, he is a lame duck, Sly Nutt was planning on bringing in Al Borges at the end of the Season!

And MSU is right behind that.

Our defense struggles with teams that spread you out and run the football. Basically, our LBs are the weakness of the defense, and if you spread us out and run it, you're going to move the football. We'll play well against teams that use more pro style offenses. LSU and UT will have trouble scoring on us.

I still thought our D would play better than this, but I have to think some of it might have to do with the fact that they aren't getting any help offensively.

Told him it looked like a power struggle at South Carolina and if they were going to melt down it would be due to the Nutt/Austin relationship.

Nutt has called the plays all along. I don't get where people thought Austin was calling the plays. He hasn't this year, and he didn't last year. He has input on the game plan, and he often calls the 3rd and longs, but the set up hasn't changed since last year. The only difference is the execution.

Yeah, it was my understanding that Nutt has always called the plays. He should give the reins to Austin though, maybe the admins at OM will make him give up control on offense.
And Bruiser, why would the LB's be a weakness against spread offenses? There shouldn't be a lot of OLB's faster than Walker and Trahan
