So is the SEC just a two horse race?

Pretty much every team other than Florida/Bama has been exposed.

Auburn fans are wondering how bad UT is and have finally stopped actually talking about getting to ATL, UGA made Crompton look like a NFL QB and also wondered how their defense can be so bad with so much talent, Snead made Ole Miss fans long for some type of Shaeffer/Spurlock combo at QB, I actually heard an LSU fan ask if Lee was going to get a shot at QB because Jefferson is walking/talking sack, MSU is determined to top Ole Miss moral victory total from 2006, South Carolina tried their best to crap the bed, but luckily they were playing Kentucky, and the penaly for losing to Army should be a firing squad for Bobby Johnson.

By the way, Florida's defense is really good and if they had played smart offensive ball that game would have been a 20 point win for Florida. I don't see Bama or Florida losing to anyone the rest of the year.

Anyone think they trip up? If so, where? I've looked at both of their schedules and the toughest games for Bama is @AU and home against LSU, and for Florida they have UGA at the Cocktail party, and @SC.

Beyond that each school goes to ATL in a rematch and probably the hardest ticket in SEC Championship game history.

If Texas loses a game or two, and no other team in the country steps up, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Florida and Alabama play once in December for the SEC title and they play again a month later for the BCS title.

I know that's undesirable, but at this point who else in the country is going to step up and have a shot if Texas were to be knocked off?

they may be the top 2 teams in the nation. There's a huge gap between them and everyone else in the SEC, which is pretty much what I've been saying since the summer. There's a lot of other good teams in the SEC, but probably not another top 10 team outside of those two.

I do think to answer Bruiser's suggestion that they might possibly play in the national title game that the poll voters will not allow that to happen unless every other BCS team has at least 2 losses plus Boise St. has at least 1 loss (and the loser of the SEC title game has only 1 loss).

be playing more than spoiler when they play Alabama.

Auburn should beat Kentucky, Ole Miss and Georgia - and LSU is a winnable game. If they win those four, they win the West if they beat Alabama.

South Carolina will lose at least 2 before they play Florida.

If Auburn can regroup from their shellacking in Fayettville, the Iron Bowl will be fun to watch.

and

I can't help but believe USC is toast with that schedule.

I'm still not buying Auburn anymore than any other team in the league. Their defense is suspect, and the fact that they only scored 23 on Arkansas's D shows that their offense can be contained.

Even if they did manage to get to the Iron Bowl with 1 loss, the only thing that would be fun about it would be the hype. The game itself would be an Alabama blow out.

That game will be closer than people think regardless of whether or not Auburn has a chance to win the West, but I agree Bama wins

...they may not make the scoreboard jingle, but Auburn would manage some points if the Iron Bowl were today.

They're better than you at every position on offense except MAYBE right tackle.

Transitive property doesn't really work in football, but Auburn's defense gave up 44 to Arkansas. Alabama gave up 7. Maybe the rivalry would be enough for Auburn to play close, but Bama is significantly better than Auburn still.

...they've got the best shot at spoiling a Bama/UF SECCG.

And when thinking about LSU... their play has been suspect all year and now they've lost the motivation of playing for Atlanta. I could see them mailing it in from here on out.

They just have to win out as well, though I don't see them doing that. They could easily lose to Auburn this week. The winner of the AU-LSU game has the best chance at spoiling things for Bama, though I don't think either has very much of a chance.

And SC's chances of playing spoiler to Florida end this week when they lose to Bama.

With Tulane and LA Tech sprinkled in. That's an even easier road than Auburn.

So the idea of them playing spoiler is a little much. Still on paper, the winner of AU-LSU is the only team that has a shot at playing spoiler to Bama, and I don't think either will come close to doing it.

Arkansas always goes off on somebody for like 1000 points. I can see @Auburn being a tough game for Alabama.

and Bama is a physical team.

I just don't see them having one loss when Bama comes to town.

I think they are an average team with a creative offense. Their defense isn't that great and if you get pressure on the QB they struggle.

I think if MSU played the style of defense they played against Vandy and LSU, that game is a lot closer.
